  1. Now Sold One genuine US Fender Precision Replacement Neck in very good/almost new condition. Bought for a project in Sep last year, I had it on one of my basses for about a month, then it’s been back in the box ever since, so minimal wear on frets. The pre-drilled holes for the tuners are for the post 2008 US Standards. Cost was £425, so £300 including insured delivery in UK.
  2. To quote: In the other corner, I've stupidly fallen in love with this, like I seem to do every MIJ instrument The underlined bit says it for me, fallen in love with an instrument means buy it and buy it now to me. Instruments are tools for the job, find ones you love and it makes the job so much more enjoyable.
  3. My faves for this were Black Sweden’s rock/ABBA songs.
  4. For some reason, even though I’ve only used one of these basses in one band, and then only for a short while, and no longer have one, I just think there’s something special about them. I can’t quantify it, but there’s something about them.
  5. I suppose it depends on if their workforce have been badly hit by C19, otherwise you’d think with less traffic on roads etc it would be making the job easier.
  6. He’ll be on the Haim dep-list, that’s for sure.
  7. Nowt to do with The Post Office I’m afraid, Royal Mail is now a privately owned company with shareholders etc, whereas The Post Office is still government owned. When the sell-off happened, Royal Mail Group, which included The Post Office was split, Royal Mail then being sold, The Post Office being retained. As such I’m (still) some form of (un?) civil servant.
  8. I bought a bass last weekend, was sent Royal Mail Special Delivery on Monday, was with me by 9:30 Tuesday morning. Given the current pressures we’re all facing in workplaces that are open at present I was quite impressed.
  9. Yep, Fender part no 0075124000 - they`re not cheap, but very good bridges. Plus as Dan says retain the original BBOT looks, rather than just looking like some huge lump of metal having been welded on (which some look like imo).
  10. No, definitely not, how very dare you!!!! 😡 What happened was that as per our producer, I got my sound from my - at the time - Aguilar Tonehammer, either amp if using my own set up or preamp pedal if using a provided rig - then beefed up/sculpted the sound with the BDDI as described. But I wanted to slim down the amount of pedals I used as we had overseas gigs which involved flying, wanted less gear to carry, so did a bit of research and found said Paradriver, which on its own did what the Tonehammer/BDDI combination did. Similarly, that`s how I ended up with the Ashdown RM500 - at the London Bass Guitar Show I tried one and it could do on its own what I needed to add the BDDI in to the Tonehammer to get, so swapped Aguilar for Ashdown and stayed ever since.
  11. Our old producer showed me the best way to use the BDDI, get the exact sound you want from your amp, put all controls on the BBDI except for Blend at midday, switch it on, then turn the Blend up til you get where you want. It tightens up the sound, reduces mids in virtually the exact area where they can congest a bit, and enables cutting through without being harsh. Quite a revelation really as I`d never got exactly what I wanted from one when I had one, but on our first recording with him he said no, put this in the chain, have a listen to the results, if you don`t like it we can take it out. I kept it there, sounded great.
  12. A band I like, Volbeat, are Danish. One of their songs, For Evigt has the verses in English and the choruses in Danish. There is an all-English version but I prefer the English/Danish version.
  13. Same here, great band, to me they’ve always been The Beach Boys with distorted guitars, great, simple, short pop songs. Quality band.
  14. Nice observations, I’m similar re the SD SPB-1, I just couldn’t get any definition from it at all, sounded to me like the tone control was fully off. Yuck.
  15. That’s what I did, had to buy another Ashdown RM500. And then when they brought out the EVO II version (half the weight but more importantly brushed metal front panel rather than shiny) well I had to get one of those. So I did, sold the old one and said EVO II ain’t going anywhere. Luckily the EVO Is that I had I bought used so never lost out much on the buying/selling of them both.
  16. Agree, makes that tiny little amp into a really good stack, much beefier and will cover most regular pub venues easily.
  17. Good call, The Bass Gallery in Camden also do this, and not as costly a job as might be expected (or at least when I contacted them I thought it was pretty reasonable).

    NBD - P/J

It’s very light Pete, I’d say about 8.5lbs. This one is a 2015, not sure but I think Fender decided on active/passive switch in 2012 when they had a re-jig on their ranges.
  19. Pretty much the same for me Stew, never had a bad sounding rig with either different configuration, different brands, or both. I don`t doubt that the rigs would have been better if each cab would have been the same brand and configuration but if the ears like, they like, and mine did.
  20. Bought a great Fender Deluxe Precision from Mike. Agreed the desk on Saturday, arrived today (Tuesday), bass exactly as described. Great comms throughout.

    NBD - P/J

So the final piece of the collection arrived today, Fender Deluxe Precision, P/J configuration, active/passive. Had wanted a P/J in my fave black/black/maple but when I saw this one in pretty much my equal fave of white/black/rosewood it just had to be. Plays and sounds like a dream - am leaving it on passive as it just sounds so good like that.
  22. Keep us posted on the KA, always nice to know how various Precision pickups sound.
  23. They were great cabs, have used a few over the years and they have a great sound to them.
  24. This thread made me plug the Tele Deluxe in earlier, played along to some good Oi/streetpunk for an hour or so, love that guitar it just plays so well.
  25. Yeah, sadly I can’t see it going ahead, gutted for all that were meant to be playing, it’s the highlight of the punk year.
