  1. Given how good their Precision range is I’d expect these also to be very good, would certainly be where I’d start looking.
  2. Agree re Ashdown, it was playing through a good few as hired in rigs that made me switch to their gear, sold my more expensive gear and ended up with a sound that worked far better for me.
  3. If the Original is of similar quality in build, sound and playability to the Professional I’d def recommend giving it a try. Who knows you may not gel with it but in my experience not trying out one of the ones on the list is like an itch not scratched, better to scratch it and find out for definite.
  4. That`s certainly what I used to do, I think people would have recognised the song but not sure I ever played it anywhere near correctly.
  5. I’ve never looked at that one before, so just did a YouTube search and hey presto, found it and think I’ll give it a go, really nice bass line that reminds me of the theme tune to The New Avengers.
  6. At The Hairy Dog in Derby they have a TC Electronic BH250 into a really old 610 of some sorts. They prefer bands to use it to make changeover quicker. I looked at it and thought it would struggle, not a chance, plenty loud enough - too loud if not kept under control - and a really full sound.
  7. Since 2015 everything I’ve written was on my US 2015 Standard Precision - songs spanning 3 albums. However now I find myself picking up either that one, or my US 2017 Professional Jazz, or my 2014 EBMM Stingray and each time think that the bass in my hands is my favourite. The Jazz gets the band duties due to the slimmer neck which is better for the more complex riffs, so I try to make sure I try and include the others. Have to say though, if I could only keep one it would be the Precision, just have more history plus I am a Precision man at heart.
  8. As a life long steel rounds player I’ve recently swapped to nickels. I bought two basses that had Ernie Ball Super Slinkies on and really liked them, but being conscious of string life decided to try Elixirs and am really pleased with them, got 45-100 on my Jazz and 50-105 on my Stingray. They’re not brilliantly bright like new steel rounds but a good few weeks in and they still sound pretty much like they did when I first put them on the basses.
  9. In my current non-gigging band set up it has to be Dazed & Confused by Led Zep. None of the parts are actually that difficult, but the middle break part is finger energy sapping, requires a lot of concentration to not drift and keep with the drums.
  10. Likewise Nick, won’t be seeing SLF etc. Shame but as the statement from Jake Burns said, just makes sense given what is happening at present.
  11. What I’ve done with my MIM Precision is buy a Gotoh 203 bass plate, which is chunkier and has pre-cut grooves in for the saddles. I then used the saddles etc from the original so from a distance it all looks stock but I have the advantage of the grooves to stop any sideways movement, plus the higher mass plate - in case that makes any difference to the sound.
  12. A bit like a call to International Rescue, that was.
  13. The CMD121P is a nice little amp, capable of much more than would be expected.
  14. I’d do a YouTube search on each, see which you like the sound of. It won’t be ideal but after a few different clips you can generally get the feel for whether something will work for you or not.
  15. They do look odd, but I think you’ve nailed it when saying that for you it’s the best bass you’ve ever played, that surely has to be the most important thing. From my limited experience of EBMM my impressions are of extremely well built, good quality, great playing instruments.
  16. Agree, I think if I were looking at combos then only Fender Rumble, Ashdown RM and Markbass would get a look in.
  17. I think sell the wireless kit and pedals but keep the Precision. Having a trusty P around is always worthwhile.
  18. And I watched it again yesterday, still made me laugh out loud.
  19. So, not said much about this one since I got it, so here goes. It’s the bass that I’ve found works best for the style of music I’m playing at the moment - Zeppelin, Rainbow, Purple, Classic rock really. I’ve strung it with nickel Elixirs and it just fits the sound so well. Given that we have both guitar and keys, the less bulky sound of the Jazz compared to my usual Precision just slots into the right place, plus the slimmer neck than I’m used to is much easier to get around on for those complex riffs. I’m quite surprised but also rather pleased that I’ve finally found a band/project where a Jazz is the best bass, I kind-of feel like a grown up now, if that makes any sense.
  20. It looks quite big in that picture...………………..
  21. Its strange, I don't think that until a few years ago I`d ever seen a badger, live or dead, nowadays it seems obligatory for there to be a dead one at least every 5 miles on country roads.
  22. I’ll always recommend Ashdown gear, not just because I’m selling a load at the moment (still keeping a load too) but because it’s quality, reliable gear at very affordable prices, plus based in the UK with amazing customer service. The ABM range is getting to be pretty much as industry standard as Ampeg on big gigs/festivals.
  23. My old band were due to be joining GBH for a few days in Germany but had to pull out due to an unrelated health issue. GBH apparently played on Thurs then the whole tour has been cancelled.
  24. Hey ho, let’s go! They’re really good basses Don, many congrats.
