  1. I’m way out of this. But in my defence I’ve only bought gear that I need due to health issues.
  2. They are lightweight, they are loud, but be prepared to make a change in your eq. Being uncoloured they really change the sound of an existing set-up and it takes a while to get it back (unless the uncoloured version is preferred of course). For me I moved away from BF as I found that I preferred the coloured sounding cabs but I’d never knock them, they’re great products and will handle pretty much anything.
  3. Yep, something will turn up, keep your playing up to scratch and socialise where local bands are and seize the opportunity when it comes along.
  4. Well I had a chat with a Basschatter earlier who suggested that as I love the JMJs why not get the necks slimmed down. So tentative enquiries made to The Bass Gallery, have to take one in to get a quote but fingers crossed I’ll be able to keep the basses I love.
  5. Justin Meldal-Johnsen, it’s his signature bass
  6. I love the JMJs, as a Precision player for many years the neck on them was so familiar it made the changeover to short scale so easy, however due to developing arthritis in my left thumb I’ve had to switch allegiance to the MIJs which I find less painful to play. In all honesty if I could have stuck with the JMJs I would have, but needs must and the MIJs aren’t a compromise, they’re great basses too.
  7. The difference between the RM500 EVO I & II is that the I has a shiny front panel rather than matt and is double the weight (tho still only about 4kg). Volume, EQ and soundwise they’re the same, I’ve had both, still have the EVO II.
  8. In all seriousness get a cab and take the amp & Super Compact. Less sweatiness when you get to the venue, power you know will cope and no dreading the walk back after a gig carrying your gear.
  9. Never seemed like showboating to me Pete, your gig reviews have always been great imo, especially when including things like the long hours on the road afterwards, something that can often be forgotten about, details like these made the reviews nicely balanced.
  10. The Bowel Unloaders on tour!
  11. Thanks Pete, I forgot to put the EVO-IV part in
  12. And all those looking to buy as well
  13. I’m a recent convert to short scale basses (Mustangs). As well as the weight reduction which was the primary reason for switching I’ve found that they just really suit me, the sound, the practicality of having smaller lighter case to cart about/fit in the car, everything. Sure not every instrument will be right for everyone but those that say short scales are rubbish & dead, well that may be the case for them but certainly not for me.
  14. From the not wanting something with a lot of upkeep/that can’t be fixed comments I’d look at Ashdown, especially as you’re in Essex (as are they). In my opinion Fender & Ashdown work very well together. But I’d def look at used gear, really maximise your options.
  15. The other thing I’ve found is that if it has the three foldable legs position it in front of you as in the Y shape. Then if someone comes flying forwards into it it goes to either the left or the right due to the leg that’s pointing at you. Whereas if you position it like an upside down Y it hits you straight in the face.
  16. I tried watching it as from the ads it looked great, sadly lasted 15mins and gave up.
  17. Sadly it’s due to arthritis in the knuckle on my left thumb, reducing neck width to Jazz dimensions really helps so I’m still Mustang as they do really help with the back issues, I’m just MIJ rather than JMJ now.
  18. Withdrawn 4 Hipshot USA 1/2inch Ultralites. In good condition, less than 2 months old. All fixings/screws included. £85 inc postage in UK
  19. Gonna keep hold of them for a while longer, so now withdrawn 2 x Ashdown PRO NEO EVO-IV 210, £250 each In pretty much new condition, only ever used them once, essentially they’re a lighter ABM sounding cab. Both come with Roqsolid covers. One has rubber matting on the top to prevent amp slippage. Size: H: 514mm(inc feet) W: 501mm 😧 342mm Weight: 14.5kg Watts: 300 Impedance: 8 Ohms Speakers: 2 x 10” BLUE LINE PRO NEO Horn: 3 Way Variable HF Driver Collection/meet up only
  20. Withdrawn Three Fender JMJ Mustang basses, £1000 each. 2020 (blue silks) at 3.9kg 2021 (green silks) at 3.7kg 2021 (red silks) at 3.6kg - trade agreed All come with a spare black scratchplate. No cases or packaging materials so collection/meet up only.
  21. I have to agree, whilst I don’t dislike Teenage Kicks there are much better songs from The Undertones, You’ve Got My Number, Wednesday Week, Julie Ocean to name a few which are all quite different showing just how good a band they were.
  22. I can’t see that happening, none of them will have credit cards to use for food/drinks/toilets/use of emergency exits……
  23. Well that’s a good question, I think I have to go with head rather than heart and take the Mustang for live work.
