  1. And a further update, as we’re playing covers one of the songs, The Devils Bleeding Crown, by Volbeat is a real cracker and I’ve really got into the band, they’re absolutely amazing. If I’d not been fortunate enough to be asked to do this ‘band’ I’d never of heard of them. Only downside is that tickets for their Bristol gig are already sold out, bah!
  2. Most of my basses are under 9lbs, and many around the 8.5lb mark. Makes me wonder how I ever survived my 70s Precisions at 10+lbs.
  3. Quite agree, in Europe you get fed, watered, and offered accommodation. Usually the food is both snacks and a hot meal. In the UK at most venues you’re lucky to get a farkoff at the end of the evening.
  4. I think all this is a bit sad, the money that those guys have made over the years, to do this just seems a bit low. That said, to an uber-fan the opportunity to own a musical instrument that has been played by one of their heroes at the gig they were at, well each to their own, not for me but to some it may be the best thing since the proverbial slice of bread.
  5. Yes, great bass sound, really fills out the mix without overpowering. Good songs/band too, remind me very slightly of The Cranberries/Zombie in the feel.
  6. Looks great but I need a lie down after seeing its 240lbs
  7. I’m currently using a Stingray, albeit only through my small Ashdown practice amp, but I like the combination of warmth of the Ashdown and the clinical punch of the Stingray.
  8. A bit late to the party, bought some strings from Clarky a few weeks back, good comms and swift delivery. Good transaction all round - as per the many listed on this thread.
  9. Chris bought some strings from me, good comms, swift payment and advised when received, good transaction all round.
  10. I’m an Ashdown uber-fan so will always recommend their gear, it sounds great, it’s very hard wearing, they’re based in the UK and their customer service is very good, plus most of their gear can be fixed at Ashdown HQ. That said the Line 6 Amps get very favourable comments. What type of music do you play and what bass do you use, these are factors to take into account.
  11. Now Sold Ignore the price above, it’s £250 for the 410 The Amp head and 210 cab pictured have now been sold. Has a Roqsolid cover, and the cab is on castors. The ABM EVO-IV range Is a real step forward, much punchier than previous ABMs imo, def Ashdowns best yet. I just no longer need a large rig, hence selling it all off. Given size/weight it’s collection/meet-up only. No trades.
  12. I think that’s great, if I had a Little Mark amp and was in a gigging band I’d certainly be interested, am sure others will be.
  13. This seems to be a common issue on Stingrays, I’ve recently got one myself and had the same, I’ve just kept on lowering the pickup under the E a half turn at a time until I’ve got there.
  14. Nice one, I’m sure you’ll be pleased with it, I love the RM range, both amps and cabs.
  15. I’ve found that the Ashdown speaker cabs seem to be lower voiced than Ampegs, and that if you boost the highs on the Ampegs they seem more crisp - I think it’s probably the mids that Ampeg are famed for.
  16. I had one, only used it once and the sound was great, just that bit too big & heavy for me but in sound alone they’re great cabs.
  17. 10s are fine for low end, a good 410 will give a whole load of lows. All 3 of the brands mentioned are good sounding gear.
  18. Well sort of, it was a - big surprise - Precision into Markbass, a combination I’ve used over the years. The compressor just gave it a wonderful even-ness.
  19. It depends on the type of music, the gear the guitarist uses, and how heavy handed the drummer is. Assuming the guitarist isn’t using a 100 watt half stack, and that the drummer doesn’t try to build a shed on every song then the 210 should be fine. I used a Marshall 210 300 watt combo in a 2 guitar punk band, I also used a Markbass 112 300 watt combo in an alt/indie type band. In both of those bands the Bass didn’t go FOH so the combos had to be loud enough for the whole of a regular pub sized venue - and both were. All that said I’d look at a 212 or 410 cab with amp head - there are some scarily good bargains on here at present, Peaveys being amongst them.
  20. Yeah I was so determined to use one to iron out peaks troughs but - and I suppose it’s not giving it a chance - I just prefer the sound without one. Yet when I heard someone else using one I loved it.
  21. Item Sold Now £115. One MXR M87 in very good condition up for grabs. Comes boxed, with instructions, no Velcro on bottom/still with the little footpads attached. Price includes delivery in the UK
  22. Now sold One brand new set of TI flats. Still in unopened packaging. Price includes delivery in UK
  23. Now Sold One set of Cobalt Flats. Had them on my Stingray, probably less than 10hrs of play so still plenty of zing in them. Not been cut, and were strung as per Ernie Ball instructions. Price included delivery in the UK
  24. Unless the strings come with instructions to not cut I always trim them down to about 13cm,, which allows for approx 3 winds.
