  1. From recall of mine I don’t think they do have, but whilst not rounded the edges were in no way “edgey” for want of a better word, it was a very comfortable neck to play.
  2. I don’t know much about those actual cabs, but every piece of Ashdown gear I’ve used has been very good, so I’d probably go with that one. The only cab I’ve used out of those listed was the Hartke and I found it quite weak sounding. And welcome to the forum, though be prepared, it will be costly.
  3. I can’t put that Sansamp through the PA, it needs to be a clean signal..... Ye Gods!!
  4. Pretty much the same, not keen on Fender bass strings, though do like their guitar strings.
  5. I don’t know what the string to pickup distances are on mine, I measure mine from the pickguard and on the E it’s 2.5mm, A about 8, 9 with the D and 5 on the G on my basses. I have recently started playing less full on so that may change but I’ve always found that with standard specs the E just booms out of control.
  6. Surely D should be deep purple!
  7. Yes I did a search on 70s sounding p-bass pickups and these turned up, will be interested in hearing your views on them.
  8. I think in this case a Barefaced cab and class D amp head would be more space saving, and in all likelihood will be more powerful as well.
  9. Agree, it was refreshing to see new bands made up of scruffy kids with guitars again. As music seems to repeat on cycles like this I wonder how long it will be before another punk/Brit a Pop type genre comes along, certainly needs it now imo.
  10. I suspect, just having bought a TC Electronic Spectradrive which has compression on it, that for the one and only gig my current and will do, I may well be using a compressor.
  11. Thanks for this, a song I’ve loved since it came out but never bothered to learn, am going to give it a go, cheers for the reminder.
  12. Yes, agree, I fully expected to have to change them in mine but found they were more than up to the job. In past MIMs I found them a tad harsh but not on the Player.
  13. As per the above, which pickup for the trusty Precision has the most highs, but without sacrificing low end. I’m thinking maybe SD Quarterpounder. I love my Custom Shop 62s with rounds but feel they’re a little too mid-focused and relaxed on top end for flats. I suppose I’m after the typical 70s sounding pickups.
  14. The thing is, and even though it might be annoying to us all, not having gigs at present is still minimising risk. Sure not by much given everything else happening, but it is still a reduction which might save lives.
  15. I’m pretty much the same, I wouldn’t buy a bass with a football badge on it, and I wonder how many people that may have bought one of these haven’t purely down to that.
  16. Where is Billy Apple when you need him, with his vast knowledge of these great instruments?
  17. I’ve got one of the Peel Session albums by Stiff Little Fingers and it’s excellent, really raw but well balanced & mixed.
  18. Especially for the ridiculous claims made as well, why not just be honest and say we want another VH in the band, rather than slag MA off in the press about being a bad bassist.
  19. Was just thinking about bass & strings, and wondered to myself, do D’addario make Pro Steels in nickel? Doh! moment, the clue might be in the name. What a dumbass!
  20. When I was a kid and stayed round my Nan & Grandads on a Saturday night James Last was often on the TV, both Nan & Grandad loved his shows.
  21. Back on topic re pubs & gigs, my non-gigging band now have our only ever intended gig (a very good mates 50th) provisionally booked for March next year. I hope it works out, the band have been playing for years and only ever intended on this one gig, our mate will be heartbroken if can’t go ahead.
  22. The Professionals are better, but not sure if nearly £1000 better. You can get better tuners/replacement pickups/bridge for £300 - at that point the only thing you can’t do is graphite rods in the neck. I’d buy a Professional used, but not new.
  23. I think Jack is just fishing to see if anyone bought his concept album of The Birdie Song.
  24. Great venue, plenty of room in there, decent sized dressing rooms, separate toilets for the performers, may be doable.
