  1. I had them on a Precision for a while, plugged into my Ampeg of the time it was that classic sound.
  2. The band I’m in isn’t a gigging band, but we have been asked to play for a good mates 50th in March 2021, hopefully things will be ok by then - tho we’ll need a singer for the gig.
  3. Another great recording from The Alibi
  4. I’ve not got scales but my preference is for sub 9lb instruments and this one fits in with my others nicely.
  5. Yep, Dave is great, a really helpful guy, as are Ashdown in general.
  6. Mine is my fave 2015 US Standard Precision, I bought it in Jul 2015, hadn’t been looking to buy one specifically but had heard sound clips on here and thought they sounded great with the Custom Shop pickups. Anyway, was just scanning the web as you do for bargains and this one was advertised somewhere in Germany for about £880 - at a time when new they were £1300. And it was black/maple, result! So I snapped it up, and it was my main bass for about 3 years, did my first Rebellion Festival with it, my first European tours with it, and recorded everything to date with it. It now has too much sentimental value to me to gig with, so I only use it at home or for recording. It just plays so well, I love all my basses but that one in my hands just feels so right. Here’s me rocking Rebellion with it:
  7. Now Sold Bass is in very good condition. I’ve upgraded the pickups to Fender Custom Shop 74s and the pots and capacitor to Fender US Standard spec. I’ve also had the nut changed to a Graphtec one for improved tuning stability and added a Hipshot 3-way string retainer. Comes in a standard black gig-bag, nothing special but protects the bass. Collection/meet only.

  9. From the mentions of user experience stating weak low end on the Big Bang coupled with your usage of a 5-string Xiaoma, it might not be the right amp for you. I’ve used Markbass a lot and never found the low end to be weak, but I only play 4s and have never used that specific amp.
  10. Strange how that happens isn’t it, on my old bands last recording both the guitarist and myself used exactly the same gear as we’d used on the one before - ok different strings but the same brands & gauges - same recording studio, same settings yet the sounds were different. Not massively but enough.
  11. The Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks, followed by The Great Rock n Roll Swindle. Essentially a great album followed by a pretty mediocre one, that had a few good songs and a lot of stuff imo just bunged in to pad it out.
  12. Great that you got through that NFF, wish you well on your recovery.
  13. I think the one for sale on here is a bargain
  14. As a lifelong Gibson Les Paul fan (for the sound) I`ve regrettably established that I don`t play them very well, so on my guitar journey I`ve now come across the Fender Telecaster Deluxe, essentially a Tele but with the same humbucker pickup set-up/controls as a Les Paul. Additionally due to the longer scale and 12" fretboard radius they`re a doddle for a bassist to swap across to. Worth checking out.
  15. Looking forward to those, Black Stone Cherry especially
  16. That’s a great recording, even just on my phone everything is just in the right place in the mix.
  17. Two of the EVO-IV ABM210s would work nicely, Matt.
  18. Great looking bass, and def worth checking out Herrick pickups.
  19. I love the bass line to Walk Like An Egyptian, simple but very effective.
  20. For the OCD-ers I’d suggest the Ashdown ABM410 EVO-IV version. Much tighter sounding than the previous range, superb cabs.

    Good thought process, Stew.....
  22. The last bass I bought after actually trying it out was about a year ago, the norm for me is buying on here or ebay. To date I’ve never had a bad purchase.
  23. Yep, I’ve heard that even if you buy a seat for a guitar/bass they can still insist on it going in the hold, though never heard of this actually happening to anyone. Fir me it’s a cheaper instrument in a Hiscox in the hold, then worry constantly until it’s back in my hands.
  24. It will be fine if adding another 4ohm cab in, the cabs will each take half of the power, the only problems will be your back and suspension I suspect, plus finding a venue with a stage big enough (but I`ll bet it will sound great).
  25. That is one very full-on sounding bass.
