  1. I’ve always used a Hiscox case. I wrap a towel around the neck to stop movement in the case and never had any problems.
  2. I will be offloading my one soon, @SPHDS, no Custom Shop pickups but still a great bass. PM if interested.
  3. You won’t be disappointed, I have one in exactly the same colour scheme and it’s great. Add in those Custom Shop pickups and that is a really good bass to have.
  4. This is a seriously good deal, anyone looking for a Precision should simply stop here and buy it.
  5. Their customer service is an example that many other companies could - and should - learn from.
  6. Agree, I find it amazing that basslines that were thought of as great, once isolated are then pulled apart for not being technically perfect. Maybe it was that lack of perfection that gave it the feel that made us all think it was great.
  7. Agree, great venue, would be a real shame if it we’re forced to close.
  8. Agree, whilst at the time I didn’t know much about them, RW looked like he’d had the time of his life, whereas DG just looked decidedly uncomfortable in his presence.
  9. I remember when I bought mine, drove to Bristol straight after work to pick it up, turned up in the shop suited and booted. The guy in the shop probably thought middle-aged bloke trying to get hip, so gave me this bass that must have been made of balsa wood or something. Anyway I steamed in to some good old Jam riffs to which he probably re-evaluated and realised I could play and said, wait there, went upstairs and returned with a Rickenbacker and said try that. Putting that amp through its paces with a quality bass like a Rick was just great, those Jam riffs suddenly sounded a lot better. There`s a real authority to the DBS sound, and it really works in a band mix. I loved mine but decided to go Ampeg, then my band split up a week after. Must have been an omen!
  10. ITEM SOLD One BOSS WL20 wireless kit. This is brand new/unused, BOSS sent it to me as a replacement for my old one which developed a fault after a years solid gigging and rehearsing. No cables, no power-packs, no on/off switch, no settings, just two little bugs, one for your bass, one for your amp. Simply connect them together and they choose the best frequency for the establishment you are in. Plug, play, and pose. £120 which includes postage in UK. These retail at £150 so get a new unused one for 30 notes less.
  11. Agree, only time I’ve ever hit anyone with my bass was a straight jab with the headstock in the face. Would have been far too much effort to take a swing with it, plus given the size of the stage all of have probably hit would have been the wall or ceiling.
  12. On the time I had to use someone else’s bass due to mine failing (electrical problem) it was doubly embarrassing as I was meant to be lending a band mine for the evening, as they’d flown in from Germany. Luckily the bassist of the headline band was great about it all and lent us his backup, a Squier Matt Freeman Precision which more than fitted the bill.
  13. Same here, I also think my hatred stemmed from the fact that my then girlfriend was a Durannie. Being into punk listening to Duran over and over again did my head in, whereas nowadays I’d quite like that.
  14. Seems strange to me, leaving a band but expecting equal rights and input on what’s put on the website.
  15. Ordinary World is an awesome track, and far better for coming from their non-teenie phase imo.
  16. I admit I never take a backup amp. At the Rebellion Festival last year I plugged into the provided SVT stack, tuned up, all good. Just as we were about to start, nothing, amp had gone, so the crew switched to the backup. As had been said, even the expensive gear can go.
  17. Not much in it I`d say, a new set of either makes my fingertips aware of what`s happened til they`ve aged a bit.
  18. Yep, switched to these from Rotosound, similar sound, at least twice if not three times the life span. And at lower cost.
  19. That is surely a criminal act

Nice one, glad it all worked out Stew

That`s about it. Rather embarrassingly I hadn`t noticed it as my sound is trebly/twangy/driven, it was only when I went to sell it - and delivered it personally - that the prospective buyer tried it out and noticed it. His sound had some good lows so it made the same sound you describe. Ashdown put a new tweeter in it for me and all was then good.
  22. Might just get one myself, love the 57 look

If it’s just on the lows it could be the tweeter. I had this on the RM112 that I had, took it to Ashdown and they sorted it. Can’t remember what the exact fault was but def worth giving them a call.
  24. That’s the reason I switched to maple fretboards.
  25. I’ve only needed one once - and typically had been too lazy to take one on that gig. Lesson learned, it’s only one extra cheapie item in a gig-bag, take it.
