    Size

    Amazing weight, 25kg for a 2x15.
  2. I’m not in a gigging band, and have no intention of being in one, so it doesn’t affect either my playing fun or income. But I like going to gigs. Maybe I shouldn’t have said worried, or maybe I should, after all it is possible to be worried about more than one thing at a time, and they don’t all have to be of the same severity.
  3. I think you’ve hit it, Hooky, when I got my Tony Butler V4 as a backup I thought I might have to change stuff like pickups/tuners/bridge to get it up to scratch, whereas once I played it with the band I realised nowt was needed. And for a sub £300 bass to be that near in playability and sound to my US Standard Precision with Custom Shop pickups is staggering.
  4. Nice one Clarky, I remember the sounds you got with Kismetik, it’s only sensible to be able to recreate those minty tones again.
  5. A Fender Telecaster, the proper single coil jobbie.
  6. I know it’s been speculated on on other threads but it certainly is worrying. I reckon that pubs/restaurants etc will be the last to re-emerge, and then there’s the social distances that have to be put in place. From there it will be finding a way to work gigs/live music back in. It won’t go away, the world over people love live music, but the finger on the pause button is firmly in place at present.
  7. The Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks, all that’s needed.
  8. Nice, the Player range is def the best from Mex so far, really good quality and great - pardon the pun - Players.
  9. Great info there
  10. Same here, if not longer.
  11. GAS, increasing my knowledge of gear/what can reasonably be expected from it, and a good few people that are either friends who I’ve actually met, or who are friends I’m yet to meet.
  12. Sort of, tho it’s more OCD than anything,, if possible I’d have all my gear the same colour (pref black black maple).
  13. Oh well, only 2 decades out!
  14. Hmmm, I was gonna say Precision, possibly a 70s ash-bodied one hence the more scoopy element to the sound. Whichever it’s great playing, def my fave DS song.
  15. The black guard will change the look nicely, sunburst/black/maple very under-rated imo. Re pickups, well I’ve never been a fan of SD QPs so I’d change those if that’s what they turn out to be. My personal faves are Fender Custom Shop 62s but I’m a bit intrigued by the EMG Geezers, apparently voiced to a similar period, but not so low-mid focused.
  16. Good sounds there, and that effortless bass sound just fits really well.
  17. Mick, you won’t even convince yourself with that l, let alone anyone else 🤣
  18. In the times when my old covers band put all instruments into our PA we didn’t even turn them up as loud as the backline/un-amplified drums. It just gave a greater spread and depth of sound to the band to have a presence in the PA. Ultimately we just got fed up of both carrying more gear in order to do this, and sounding too polished - we were a punk covers band, couldn’t sound too good!
  19. Looks like they shouldn’t have taken them in or moved them on, but doesn’t look like they were trying to misrepresent them - pretty much anyone buying guitars would know you don’t get a Gibson SG for under £300. Only possible problem is if the buyer then moves it in as a genuine item, at that point are there liability issues?
  20. A mate of mine had one of those, albeit in a different colour scheme, was a fantastic bass, killer sounds, congrats.
  21. Pinpoint the sound you like most/that you`re after making, then research from there. If you`re after a specific sound you`ll get much more enjoyment from an instrument that can recreate it. Which is exactly what I didn`t do, for years. I was always chasing a specific sound, then finally bought the bass that could do it, made things a lot better.
  22. We had two songs which we would play if someone in the crowd was overly boisterous, Riot snd Aggro. They were usually quite happy with the dedications.
  23. I remember that comment well, and use it myself when the opportunity arises.
  24. Rotten news, whilst I was never a major fan I did really like a lot of their material, The Stranglers were one of “my” teenage bands.
  25. Funny that, I did pretty much the same, and came to the same conclusion too.
