  1. Parcelforce delivered to my work today, and we’re sited near a DHL depot which appears to be working as usual.
  2. Really nice sound on that too, is that very representative of a regular 2-band eq Stingray?
  3. Luckily I’ve just started playing a Jazz....
  4. I put those on all my Fender basses too, you can get specific retainers for the US models, for the Mex/Squiers I get Hipshot ones, saves a lot of hassle for less than £20.
  5. I use the Dunlop Tortex Triangles - essentially due to its shape you get three points on it, so 3 picks for the price of one. I`m a confirmed pick player, used 1.14mm for years, then dropped a bit to 1mm. I`ve now reduced again to 0.88mm, I find them a little bit easier to do intricate riffs with plus, and a rather strange one here, I`ve always like the sound when using the nail on my index finger to play with, and the 0.88s are the pick that sound nearest to that, so I have two reasons to use them. They also have a very cool tortoise on them.
  6. I saw this thread and actually thought someone had bought one of those 15 grand jobbies!
  7. Yep, slightly loose tuner, or a string (usually the A on Fender type basses) not all the way down on the tuning peg, both can cause a really irritating rattle.
  8. Location Methods of payment that will be accepted If item is ok to be sent or collection/meet up only Link to manufacturers full spec if possible
  9. A mate of mine used to work for this mag, he used to get all sorts of interesting gear to test out/review.
  10. I’m fairly sure me posting a load of Fender Precisions & Jazzes isn’t the idea of this thread, but to me they are the most beautiful instruments ever made (though some colour schemes pass me by).
  11. Yep, same size and bulk as regular ABM. Mine was a backup and have to admit it did look cool having two ABM heads on an ABM 410 & 210 stack.
  12. I think an old Hartke head I had - HA4000 - had either para or semi-Para on it. Whichever it made it extremely easy to get the sound I wanted, tho have to admit it was more by trial & error than any real knowledge.
  13. Pretty good actor too, there was a film based around Coward of The County and he was very good in it.
  14. The ABM1000 was class D, as oppose to the regular ABMs which aren’t. Not sure what they are (A, B etc) but whatever it is run them loud and they shine. Quite how Ashdown have managed to get so near to the ABMs with the RMs is beyond me.
  15. Yes still up for grabs.
  16. Yes, had forgotten those, I had an ABM1000 for a while and it was very good, all the ABM features but a good but lighter.
  17. Yes, on the originals circuit on most gigs there’s usually an agreed gear-share, and at many of the bigger more established venues there’s at least drum shells, plus guitar & bass cabs. It makes 15min changeovers between bands a lot easier (and more realistic).
  18. Given how good their Precision range is I’d expect these also to be very good, would certainly be where I’d start looking.
  19. Agree re Ashdown, it was playing through a good few as hired in rigs that made me switch to their gear, sold my more expensive gear and ended up with a sound that worked far better for me.
  20. If the Original is of similar quality in build, sound and playability to the Professional I’d def recommend giving it a try. Who knows you may not gel with it but in my experience not trying out one of the ones on the list is like an itch not scratched, better to scratch it and find out for definite.
  21. That`s certainly what I used to do, I think people would have recognised the song but not sure I ever played it anywhere near correctly.
  22. I’ve never looked at that one before, so just did a YouTube search and hey presto, found it and think I’ll give it a go, really nice bass line that reminds me of the theme tune to The New Avengers.
  23. At The Hairy Dog in Derby they have a TC Electronic BH250 into a really old 610 of some sorts. They prefer bands to use it to make changeover quicker. I looked at it and thought it would struggle, not a chance, plenty loud enough - too loud if not kept under control - and a really full sound.
  24. Since 2015 everything I’ve written was on my US 2015 Standard Precision - songs spanning 3 albums. However now I find myself picking up either that one, or my US 2017 Professional Jazz, or my 2014 EBMM Stingray and each time think that the bass in my hands is my favourite. The Jazz gets the band duties due to the slimmer neck which is better for the more complex riffs, so I try to make sure I try and include the others. Have to say though, if I could only keep one it would be the Precision, just have more history plus I am a Precision man at heart.
  25. As a life long steel rounds player I’ve recently swapped to nickels. I bought two basses that had Ernie Ball Super Slinkies on and really liked them, but being conscious of string life decided to try Elixirs and am really pleased with them, got 45-100 on my Jazz and 50-105 on my Stingray. They’re not brilliantly bright like new steel rounds but a good few weeks in and they still sound pretty much like they did when I first put them on the basses.
