  1. Re Electric Eel, never seen a drummer play with 2 sticks in each hand before, wtf? Agree, great night of great music from 2 great bands.
  2. I was pretty much the same Steve, til I bought a Vintage Tony Butler Signature Precision as a backup to my US Standard Precision, at that point I realised I’d struck lucky and the eternal search for a cheapie was over.
  3. Congrats on both points, new endorsement and new amp.
  4. The US Standards of 2012-16 have the chunkiest necks on Precisions that I’ve encountered (which I love btw) but other than that @bassbiscuits is pretty much spot on I’d reckon.
  5. Pretty much the same for my old punk covers band too (which was great fun btw)
  6. Nowadays with the punk bands it`s cos we`re all in our 50s/60s, so actually do need to go to the toilet 🤣
  7. I find this principle works for home use but my gigging set-up stays constant.
  8. A mate of mine had a CSL Jazz copy and it was a great bass, seems their whole range was good.
  9. Not last night but Thursday night we played at Don’t Panic in Essen, Germany, a venue owned by our record company Sunny Bastards. We set off at 5am, hoping to get to our hotel at 3pm which is the usual state of affairs when we play there however this time it wasn’t to be. Due to really rotten traffic we had to go straight to the venue, arriving at 7pm so had spent 13hrs travelling. Just before the gig the owner was looking a bit concerned as we were a little tired to say the least, however once we were on - at 10:30 so a very long day - his concern dropped and we played a blinder. The audience don’t care how long your day has been or how tired you are, you’re there for them and have a duty to play your best show and we delivered. Was an hours set and the crowd were up for it, to the point where I mentioned tongue in cheek “try not to kill each other” though there was more than a slight element of truth in it as it was more than a bit rough down the front. So back to the hotel at 1:30am, on the road at 7:45am, back home at 6:45pm shattered but knowing we did a great gig, and more than covered our costs of van/ferry/hotels/fuel. Result!
  10. Michael Monroe in Milton Keynes this eve, am super excited. Edit - have just got in and can say it was worth it, they played for 75mins and were amazing.
  11. My hidden gem is my Tech21 Para Driver. It’s quite like their Bass Driver however has sweepable adjustable mids so more to really sculp the sound. It’s not a bass-specific pedal so maybe why many bassists don’t use it, sticking with the regular BDDI but for me it’s the one but of kit that is essential for my sound now. Oh, and those Behringer amps, a mate of mine had one and with his 70s Jazz it sounded immense.
  12. If the Classic Vibe lives up to its reputation as being better than the Vintage Modified then imo it has to be good as I’ve been amazed at how good my VM77 Jazz is.
  13. The Marshall DSL5C is a good little amp, and has a setting on it where you can reduce the power to 0.5 watts, so ideal for home use (tho still pretty noisy, halfway at 0.5 watts is regular TV viewing volume).
  14. Mine would be the bass I already have, US Fender Precision 2012-16 Series, with Custom Shop 62 pickups.
  15. Yes, Ashdown are very good on customer service, they’re on here as well @Ashdown Engineering
  16. Ah, but you can roll it in glitter.
  17. Very good, see why you’re proud of that Liam
  18. Yes that’s a pretty good turnaround, I waited a fair while for a cab from BF - nit a criticism btw, more like praise for having such good products.
  19. I quite liked them, nice to see a band that’s not “polished” on there. Thought LG was good too, probably the best I’ve heard his voice on a live performance for some time, much less middy/nasally than usual.
  20. I had a couple of 70s Precisions at about 10.5lbs, ok for a 30min set but I did notice it when doing two 1hr sets.
  21. I’ve had both Fender Duff McKagan & Mike Dirnt basses, both great but I’ve realised that I just prefer the US Standards to any others.
  22. I think they’re great, have had a good few and whilst they’re not right for my current needs if I ever hang up my DMs and go back into covers bands BF cabs will be getting a revisit.
  23. Good point Si, I usually get an idea, give it to the tattooist that I use and he’ll work on it and give me something far better (and unique). I’ve only insisted on like for like once as it was a specific design by a well known tattoo artist, other than that I trust my tattooists judgement far better than my own.
