  1. Their T&Cs specifically prohibit musical instruments - don’t use them.
  2. I think we all know that there’s no need to, as TE watts are just louder.....
  3. I love my basses, but in regards to the ones I Gig I’m not precious about them, if they pick up wear/knocks so be it. Which is why I no longer gig my fave one as don’t want anything happening to it, it has too much sentimental value.
  4. Kay EB-0 copy for bass, and some form of Vox practice amp. Action on the bass was incredibly high but at the time I didn’t know any better so that was how I learned and it made playing a better instrument so easy.
  5. I’d use the rig stated if it got me the sound I wanted, why not. I’ve seen many pro-bassists using MIM Fenders and Squiers, some using bitsas that have cost them £100, plus as per another topic on here, some amp set-ups are going for silly money, why not take advantage and use good gear at reasonable prices. For me my gigging basses are US Fenders, they are the best Precisions I’ve ever had, but I’ve gigged my Mex Player Precision that I bought for flying gigs and I’d be happy with a couple of those as my gigging basses. I do prefer the more expensive US ones but in reality I don’t need them.
  6. There’s all sorts of gear about at the moment which is probably more fashionable but if you want quality reliable gear then Ashdown has to be at the top of the list. I’ve seen some of the gear/prices and been amazed, top notch gear for silky money.
  7. We generally won’t do requests but a couple we know asked us to play one of our songs for them as although it wasn’t about them it literally told the story of how they met. The gig was in their home town and on the anniversary of said meeting so we of course put the song in the set. See, us punkers are kind thoughtful chaps.
  8. That’s so true, I was pretty much the same as @CamdenRob only with Jazzes, kept buying/not gelling/moving them on. Then tried a Squier VM77, finally found the Jazz for me. So def worth pursuing and trying out as many across the ranges/prices as possible, not always the expensive ones that fit the best.
  9. Not used one but did hear one used at a gig, the bassist had a nice punk gnarly middy tone with his Rumble/Precision set up that worked so well.
  10. I agree, for years I’ve been seeking a Jazz Bass that I really gel with. I’ll most likely never use a Jazz in a band scenario but it’s now my go to bass at home, I just love it (Squier VM77 for those interested). Just cos I don’t gig with it doesn’t mean it’s wasted, far from it. I probably play it more than all my other basses put together at the moment (honeymoon period maybe?).
  11. Def, nowadays it seems bands are either on the mega bucks level or having to do day jobs as well as music.
  12. If I had Sky I would, congrats, it’s something we’d love to do, especially with our song Football Beer & Punk Rock.
  13. I used to rotate my two white/maple Precisions but since one took a knock on the neck I’ve used that one only figuring why get both knackered. I also use my black/maple Precision solely for recording, and when I gig in Hamburg later on this year will use my Vintage V4 Precision. So using 3 of 6, albeit 2 sparingly. Erm, can’t count, make that 3 of 5 ☺️
  14. I’ve found that in order for my Precisions to really cut through the mix I boost the upper mids at around 3kHz. The Sansamp really scoops mids so is removing a lot of the main area of the Precisions sound, may be why you find it’s not cutting through so well in comparison to your other basses.
  15. Look up efoam online, I’ve had them do a few things for me and they’re very good.
  16. Most certainly do, the best kept secret for bassists out there seeing as it`s not a pedal promoted for bass, more multi-instrument. That clank really works and definitely helps in not needing subs for the lows.
  17. The Stranglers AND Hanoi Rocks AND Big Country, all on ONE DAY! Man I curse my younger self for not going to more gigs.
  18. The only difference I know of are the new Fender V ones, I’ve side ceramic one side alnico (no idea which, can’t remember) as each is meant to compliment the respective strings they sit under better.
  19. I’m in the Duff camp, so probably makes the hearing via monitors easier for a start, as well as giving the actual PA speakers less of a task to deal with.
  20. I’d look out for a used Player series, I’ve been very impressed with my Player Precision so can only assume that the Jazzes are equally great.
  21. I don’t warm up specifically but do flex my fingers a fair bit before going on stage. I never knew I did it, it was the singer in my last band that noticed it and mentioned how professional he thought it was.
  22. Well I generally only play places with proper big FOH so couldn`t really say. I think it would be a risky move with just a vocal PA.
  23. On Friday, the provided cab wasn’t working so just went straight to FOH/monitors from my trusty Para Driver. In all honesty if I could rely on monitoring I’d do this all the time, made pretty much no difference to me.
