  1. I’ve found that for my needs a pair of 210s is plenty enough, though my likes/wants are 410 & 210 minimum. The bigger stacks as well as looking great have a sheer physical presence that I’ve never had through a single 112/115/210, but as said this is likes against needs. Most venues I was playing had monitoring anyway (though I dislike bass in monitors).
  2. They sounded very much like the Fender Custom Shop 62s to me, so low-mid rich.
  3. That will rumble the chest cavity nicely through the ABM, congrats.
  4. Good call, and the staff themselves could benefit by doing set-ups out of hours for customers, so shop wins by better sales, customers win by getting well set up instruments, staff learn skills that can earn them out of hours cash.
  5. We’ve always tried to get best results from both car stereos and mobile phones, working on the same premise as Rick Rubin - if that’s what people will listen to the music on, mix it to suit those systems.
  6. Agree. We work to the same way as has been described above, with the tidying up etc, but I do sometimes feel that it’s sterilising the songs somewhat. Sure, you get a technically perfect end product but I do think it’s taking away some of the magic.
  7. We do something similar, but at a round 30/35hz. It really makes a difference, and we don`t use a lot of low-end in the first place. Maybe without doing it at 70 the Motown recordings - due to the amount going on - sounded muddy?
  8. That’s a good call, Blue, I told my band I would be leaving back in August however we didn’t put anything out until Nov about it so no-one was aware. You never know what the situation within the band framework is, never hurts to chat to a good band anyway, whether or not they may be in the lookout for new members.
  9. The venue we played in Hamburg on Dec 30 was apparently an asylum many years back.
  10. Looks like a Dalek!
  11. Those Behringer compressors really punch above their weight/cost, don’t they?
  12. You can, just don’t turn either the volume or the bass up too much. Greenbacks are rated at 25 watts so you’d have to listen carefully to make sure you’re not pushing them too hard. For home use would be fine, and if looking for Ampeg growl maybe look at the PF20 or 50 - just make sure all the ohmage is right
  13. Might be worth asking @obbm - I’m not sure if he’s still doing cables/leads but he may be able to point you in the right direction.
  14. The Genz 212 - can’t remember the model number - was good when I heard it at the Herts Bash a few years back. Nice and light too.
  15. As a Hemeloid I can only agree with you on that, Jack 😩
  16. Bass stated as liked but not played much. Or a work-horse that will be played into the ground (and quoted as The Fender bass was amazing; I’d forgotten just how good they are). Only says one thing to me, buy the Jazz that is wanted/will be used regularly.
  17. Sad but without a bit of knowledge, or a Basschat membership, someone could get badly stung here.
  18. Thanks mate, I wouldn`t say happy, but a decision I had to make for sake of my physical & mental health - there is a post up in general with full details etc. I`m sure they`ll be great with Mick, he`s been around and knows the scene so am hoping they keep going onto bigger & better things.
  19. As Vyvyan from The Young Ones jacket said, Very Metal!
  20. Assuming it was the Northampton one, they`re pretty darn good in there aren`t they, no pressure on sales, happy for any item to be tried out for however long.
  21. I had to leave Sean, the toll of gigging far & wide finally caught up with me, just can`t hack it any more - and with the band now signed to a German label the work would be even more far-flung and more often. The band has a replacement, Mick Maverick, formerly of The Gonads, his first gig is this Sunday in The 100 Club.
  22. 39 for us, but that included 2 separate visits to Scotland, 4 separate visits to Germany, plus gigs in Holland, Ireland, and all over the UK - mostly oop North as they seem to be quite fond of us.
  23. Have left my band, no gigging in the foreseeable future so offloading everything that I don`t need - who knows, I might even be able to get into my spare room after it`s all gone 😮
  24. As some may know, I rather like Precisions. And back as far as I can remember I always went for rosewood fretboards. Until my current band, when we started playing on stages with big lighting and I realised I was finding it difficult to see where I was on said rosewood, so I swapped to maple.
  25. I also quite like them, and similarly am not sure how it changed music history. Was another good - but not exceptional imo - album from that period, maybe the thought was that the punks had "grown up" and learnt to write "proper" songs maybe?
