  1. There’s nowt wrong with saying Bass on a bass forum 😆
  2. I use regular long scale on my Fender Mustang basses which have thru-body stringing.
  3. Couple of things I’d be looking at, are strings you’ve put on the Ibby the same as those on the HB, and is the fretboard radius the same. These two factors can really make a difference, strings especially.
  4. Great idea, sadly I can’t contribute re basses, none of mine anywhere near that age - did used to have one of those Kay Rickytypers though.
  5. I`ve always liked the Tonehammer but wished that I could get drive on the non AGS channel as I preferred the core sound of that.
  6. I’ve not had the Jazz V-Mods but did have the Precisions. For me they lacked character in comparison to the CS62s.
  7. I’ve never had a bass with that much gunk on it but I’ve always used lemon oil, either on rosewood or maple boards, and it’s always worked nicely.
  8. My only very small critique is remove the ` from either side of Mature - to me, and possibly others, it adds emphasis to that aspect above the others.
  9. It’s pretty similar for me, we started my last band when I was 48 thinking a few Tues/Weds gigs, turned out to be so much more. I think being a bit more advanced in years and no longer interested in the free beer in the dressing rooms we just had a much more professional approach to it which enabled us to proceed quite well. Helped of course by writing some pretty decent songs too. But imo the main thing is to have someone driven steering things. With the same songs but me at the helm rather than our instigator we’d probably have done 10 gigs in 6 years and never recorded a thing, rather than the 200 plus gigs all over the country and Europe, plus the four albums and a few EPs. Drive and focus essential.
  10. Fairly sure it`s 19mm, and I`d say same on all Mustangs as my MIJ Mustang with Jazz width neck doesn`t feel any different on the spacing.
  11. We (The Spacewasters) have pretty much a core set for 30 mins, we then add in if doing 40/50/60 mins and choose the songs based on the gig. One 40 min set may well be different to the next depending on the type of event we`re playing. In general I`ve always said just play your best songs irrespective but the rest of the band prefer to pick & choose and in fairness they`ve been on the psychobilly scene for years, I haven`t.
  12. Further to this, my sig bass would look exactly like the one in my pic, tho I`d have it chambered to help the old back out, and would have a Jazz width neck.
  13. In all likelihood it’s probably not, but I dare say it will be more expensive due to staff & property costs - to some those extra costs probably equate to “well it must be better then”.
  14. Although I’ve always played my basses quite hard I’ve always been pretty accurate in my playing so the only part of them that ever suffered any wear were the strings, no wear & tear on the basses themselves.
  15. Why not set the mics at a rehearsal to the point just before they feedback, set the backline to the volume of the drums. then record it and send it out to the whole band. Wait for the comments of “we can’t hear the vocals” to appear then explain why.
  16. Yep, to me this is the sound of someone who is able to play their instrument well but isn`t a good band member.
  17. I’m finding it very difficult to understand why this hasn’t been snapped up, this range of Fenders don’t come up for sale too often which imo is pretty telling, they’re good, people keep hold of them.
  18. Having listened to a few tracks I’d describe your style as steady. As such I’d be looking at the better bands, you’re not going to be playing anything that gets in the way but your playing will provide a good foundation for great guitars and vocals on which to shine.
  19. Yeah I think Vicious Sidney put him off a bit
  20. It is indeed a very worn but a very great bass, lot of history I’d venture to say.
  21. Sometimes things come along when we least expect them, the main thing is be ready for them and be willing to both give them a try and to say no if not right.
  22. “Whispering” Bob Harris to take over, at least the show will be in the hands of someone who understands it.
  23. At the rehearsal studio we use - Mill Hill - their reception is basic music shop & basic cafe. I always try to get there 30mins before rehearsal time so I can have a coffee and a Mars Bar, plus a look at what they’re selling.
