  1. No lighter than 8.5lbs, no heavier than 9.5lbs. Preferably about 8lbs10 - 9lbs tho.
  2. There certainly were “tribes” back then, you could tell what bands people were into by their clothes or hair styles, early to late 80s easily identified. As far as I can see Brit Pop was the last “movement” of any real substance that penetrated regular life - if a rock star having champagne at No 10 is regular life that is. But what I mean by that is that unlike many current rock or metal stars etc that are known within their genre but are totally anonymous outside of it, Liam & Noel Gallagher were of a genre but known to the general public who weren’t into their music. Nowadays people may know the current stars but to me it seems there is a lack of genre, it’s just music. Time for a guitar based revolution methinks.
  3. I use Fender Strap Blocks which are a small rubber washer that fit over the end-pin. You can cheat and buy a bottle of Grolsch to get similar. Both work fine. I’ve also used the ones as described above, they do a good job as well.
  4. In a heavy rock band I think I’d be looking at a lightweight 410 rather than 210, more for comparable depth of sound to your regular cab than volume - you might find the jump to 210 to be a bit lacking. I had an Ashdown RM410 for a while and it was a great cab, and being both slim in depth and only 50 or so lbs very easy to move about. Pretty good price too, and they do come up on eBay used every now & then. I think the Rumble 410 is similar in weight and it also sounds great, not used one myself but Alvin Gibbs of The UK Subs uses one and he gets a great sound.
  5. I can’t really see any argument in that. I did like them though, def a bunch of ‘erberts making a racket.
  6. I can’t remember back to what was in the charts then, but for some reason I seem to think of insipid and no energy or vitality, aside from Oasis, so chances are everything of today would fit.
  7. I agree, always thought that the SUB name/decal was a possible off-putter.
  8. Hopefully I’ve done this correctly: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WByH0uiVnI4
  9. There’s a great demo of the Para Driver on YouTube, the reviewer gets a great SVT style sound which tempted me to buy one. I have a much harsher sound than that but the Para Driver is capable of some nice harmonics due to the sweepable mids. As with anything you have to keep at it though.
  10. Yes, it thickens the sound up, adds harmonics and if you dig in some grit but not a pedal-like drive.
  11. Great post and agree, it’s a very good forum. What I particularly like is the fact that we can disagree about things - usually in Off Topic - but are adult enough to appreciate that people will inevitably not always agree on things but that no resentment is harboured. From what I hear that’s not always so on other forums/ forms of social media.
  12. Typical, just as I leave my band and have no intention of joining any others for a considerable time an amp like this turns up.
  13. I wonder if she’d make it through the month if he only managed $52,000?
  14. The ABM600 is a great amp, enjoy.
  15. Nowt wrong with the whole set-up imo, a very nice selection of gear there.
  16. Another vote for the Fender Custom Shop 62 here, amazing pickups,
  17. The sensible side of me wants to say no, go and do the gig and be the better man, but the realistic side of me says I agree with your decision and it’s more than a bit cheeky of them for asking.
  18. I left one band a few years back literally overnight. I realised that I’d simply stopped enjoying it and rather than hang around and both drag the mood down, plus sour the memories of a great couple of years that I’d really enjoyed I walked straightaway. The band did have 2 bassists so I wasn’t leaving them light on the low end and unable to carry on gigging.
  19. 1 - Best gig, undoubtably the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool, in August. We released our 4th album that day to a pretty full room - about 2300 I’d say - and the reception we got was amazing. 2 - Worst gig, probably the Tegelen Skin Festival in The Netherlands, in April. Only because the singer had got ill on the tour and had pretty much lost his singing voice. We soldiered on and got a good reception but it shows how bad it was that I ended up doing lead vocals on a few bits. Some things, once heard cannot be unheard!
  20. I told my band in August that I’d be leaving due to health issues - did a thread about it a few weeks back - but that as it was for the good of the band I’d play any gigs I’d already committed to unless a replacement was found prior to that. I did also say however don’t book anything else. would have taken me up to May next year, however it looks like it’s going to be sorted sooner than that. Additionally I have told them that if a gig comes up that whoever is playing bass can’t do, and it’s a gig that the band can’t afford to turn down then by all means ask me if I can do it. It’s week in, week out gigging I can’t manage anymore, one-off gigs not a problem and will be happy to help out.
  21. I’ve done that on all the overseas gigs we’ve done for the last couple of years, and advised the others in the band to do the same, purely to get used to it for if/when it becomes a requirement.
  22. Sounding good Clarky, will have to keep my eyes open on your gig list
  23. Agree, it simply has to be CDO
  24. Nah, they’re great, and much nicer chaps than their intimidating image suggests.
  25. Whenever I see these posts I think of the other Last Resort band, one of my faves:
