  1. I can’t really see any argument in that. I did like them though, def a bunch of ‘erberts making a racket.
  2. I can’t remember back to what was in the charts then, but for some reason I seem to think of insipid and no energy or vitality, aside from Oasis, so chances are everything of today would fit.
  3. I agree, always thought that the SUB name/decal was a possible off-putter.
  4. Hopefully I’ve done this correctly: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WByH0uiVnI4
  5. There’s a great demo of the Para Driver on YouTube, the reviewer gets a great SVT style sound which tempted me to buy one. I have a much harsher sound than that but the Para Driver is capable of some nice harmonics due to the sweepable mids. As with anything you have to keep at it though.
  6. Yes, it thickens the sound up, adds harmonics and if you dig in some grit but not a pedal-like drive.
  7. Great post and agree, it’s a very good forum. What I particularly like is the fact that we can disagree about things - usually in Off Topic - but are adult enough to appreciate that people will inevitably not always agree on things but that no resentment is harboured. From what I hear that’s not always so on other forums/ forms of social media.
  8. Typical, just as I leave my band and have no intention of joining any others for a considerable time an amp like this turns up.
  9. I wonder if she’d make it through the month if he only managed $52,000?
  10. The ABM600 is a great amp, enjoy.
  11. Nowt wrong with the whole set-up imo, a very nice selection of gear there.
  12. Another vote for the Fender Custom Shop 62 here, amazing pickups,
  13. The sensible side of me wants to say no, go and do the gig and be the better man, but the realistic side of me says I agree with your decision and it’s more than a bit cheeky of them for asking.
  14. I left one band a few years back literally overnight. I realised that I’d simply stopped enjoying it and rather than hang around and both drag the mood down, plus sour the memories of a great couple of years that I’d really enjoyed I walked straightaway. The band did have 2 bassists so I wasn’t leaving them light on the low end and unable to carry on gigging.
  15. 1 - Best gig, undoubtably the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool, in August. We released our 4th album that day to a pretty full room - about 2300 I’d say - and the reception we got was amazing. 2 - Worst gig, probably the Tegelen Skin Festival in The Netherlands, in April. Only because the singer had got ill on the tour and had pretty much lost his singing voice. We soldiered on and got a good reception but it shows how bad it was that I ended up doing lead vocals on a few bits. Some things, once heard cannot be unheard!
  16. I told my band in August that I’d be leaving due to health issues - did a thread about it a few weeks back - but that as it was for the good of the band I’d play any gigs I’d already committed to unless a replacement was found prior to that. I did also say however don’t book anything else. would have taken me up to May next year, however it looks like it’s going to be sorted sooner than that. Additionally I have told them that if a gig comes up that whoever is playing bass can’t do, and it’s a gig that the band can’t afford to turn down then by all means ask me if I can do it. It’s week in, week out gigging I can’t manage anymore, one-off gigs not a problem and will be happy to help out.
  17. I’ve done that on all the overseas gigs we’ve done for the last couple of years, and advised the others in the band to do the same, purely to get used to it for if/when it becomes a requirement.
  18. Sounding good Clarky, will have to keep my eyes open on your gig list
  19. Agree, it simply has to be CDO
  20. Nah, they’re great, and much nicer chaps than their intimidating image suggests.
  21. Whenever I see these posts I think of the other Last Resort band, one of my faves:
  22. As I’m going soon to be out of a band for the first time in years I’m going to look at other styles and genres.
  23. From what I’ve read the passive ones are quite highly thought of, no idea of value though.
  24. I’ve found that the bridges such as Badass seem to slightly scoop the sound a bit, making the low end bigger & tighter and making the top end crisper. All this is very slight I should add, I’d never be able to tell in a band mix, and probably wouldn’t be able to tell on someone else’s bass either, only in my own that I’m very familiar with. But to me this takes away what a Precision is famed for, mids, however it emphasises what the Jazz is famed for, that scooped sound.
  25. So looking to be GAS free for 2020, I decided to buy myself a new bass this week. Since I’m going to not be in a band soon, and for quite a while I think, I want to expand my range of playing and styles, and also not be solely a Precision player. So I’d been looking out for a Stingray in my favoured black/black/maple and fortunately our very own @tom1946 put one up, so did the deal, and it arrived today. Plays like a dream, am very happy with it though I can see already it’s going to make me play differently, which was the point really, less hamfisted hammering away, a bit more relaxed playing with more dynamics. Oh, the beauty in question, well as below.
