  1. Nice 👍
  2. Wow, I bet that sounded immense.
  3. A third vote on the Ashdown RM800, though to be honest I`d be shocked if anyone needed more than what the 500 watt version offers. If I`m correct that`s the reason why Ashdown discontinued the 800.
  4. I use a Tech 21 Para Driver as an always-on eq/Drive/DI. No matter what rig I’m using I know that FOH gets what I want it to. I’d happily use any effects that songs require, but my current band is strictly the same sound all the way, touch of Drive when digging in (so all the time given my playing style) and that’s it.
  5. No, I’ve used the Behringrer, EBS Multicomp and Aguilar TLC - I probably found the Behringer the easiest to use as I’m not the most competent/knowledgeable on this compression lark. I’ve also found that using a compressor with my Para Driver, even on minimum settings is futile, saps all volume & dynamics.
  6. I had their DC9 I think it was, and it was a very good pedal. To the point where the first time I used it our lead guitarist was late, and walked in when we were playing. His first words were to ask if I’d got myself a compressor as the bass was sounding much better, more balanced and focused (he’s one of those techie people that understand sound and how it works).
  7. Being over-flash imo.....
  8. If I were playing without gain/drive I’d use a compressor, but the gain/drive from my Para Driver has enough compression of its own.
  9. Some of the class d amps are pretty much put it in the bin if anything goes wrong from what I’ve heard. The Ashdown RM500 EVO II which I have luckily isn’t one of them, another reason why I’m so pleased that I use Ashdown amps.
  10. Great looking bass, @12stringbassist
  11. I’ve had a good few Class D amps, Ampeg (1) GK (2) Markbass (2) Ashdown (2) TC Electronic (2) and not had a problem with overheating with any of them. And I’ve used them in punk/heavy rock bands so not quiet music. However in all cases I’ve connected them to cabs that didn’t require running the amps at full pelt. Maybe the problems have come from cabs that weren’t up to the job so pushing the amps beyond their capabilities.
  12. It’s here, I’m sorely tempted as the sound reviews on YouTube are great https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/180430326838008--fender-player-tele-butterscotch-blonde-mn-electric-guitar?gclid=CjwKCAiA_f3uBRAmEiwAzPuaM4Mfp77qvWCn14hjKla4sMZWYHEW3A12VgFGfkw9eRmXM370foIStRoC4kUQAvD_BwE
  13. I recently had very good customer service from Ashdown, imo they really are a quality company with great products.
  14. GuitarGuitar are doing the butterscotch/maple Fender Player Telecaster for £399. But I want a black/maple one.........
  15. Herebe us handsome chappies
  16. I do like that, Ian, really fits the band well.
  17. I’d say go for the good Jazz as that’s the instrument type you mainly gel with, and maybe later on get something like a Squier Classic Vibe Precision. I’ve done the same but in reverse, always worth having “the other” for a bit of flexibility.
  18. 999 Meg Still haven’t got a gig......
  19. Sounds great too.
  20. Yeah, we get regular payments from the online stuff but they’re small in comparison to CD & Vinyl sales. We also do a lot of online sales too.
  21. I do think Mono cases are expensive, but they’re good. There’s a real feeling of quality and solidity to them that for me says unless something really bad happens my bass is safe inside it. And that’s the main thing, plus as @dave_bass5 says, they have all the features I want. Although I have a cheapy Fender gig bag for my cheapy backup bass, my main basses only go in either a Mono gig bag or a Hiscox hard case.
  22. I was in a punk covers band with the singer/guitarist and he mentioned that he’d like to do an originals punk band. We already knew the drummer we wanted, who was playing in another local punk/new wave covers band so asked him and he said yes. Set about learning the material - the singer/guitarist had about 5 songs recorded just by him on a home studio, with drum machine - and I had to tell them at the first rehearsal that I’d struggled as could find no enthusiasm for it. But then we started playing and totally changed my mind. It just had the power and energy that I love. So I’d say to any musician looking to join a band, give it a go in a rehearsal studio, don’t be put off by recorded material, I nearly was and if I’d not gone ahead I wouldn’t have had the best six years of my musical life.
  23. Yep, and go nicely with the 115 already scored.
  24. Especially so, considering their links with The Jam. Apparently when they reformed a while back they went down really well. Annoyingly they were on that bit too late at Rebellion for me to see them.
  25. And there is a mod that can be done to put a horn in the NY121 rather than the Piezo.
