  1. I’ve used the DI on mine a few times when sound engineers don’t want to use the DI in my Sansamp, I’ve set it pre and then altered the eq on the amp to match whatever cab I’ve been using and the (previously mentioned rather fussy) sound engineers haven’t complained about changing levels, so I’m pretty sure - certainly pre, that eq and level adjustments don’t affect the DI.
  2. This is a very good point. I prefer the heck profile on my US Ps, but once the band is going there’s no real difference in the mix between them and the Player.
  3. And I think Ampeg with their SVT3-PRO.
  4. And a great bass line to play.
  5. The tuners on my Player Precision have been fine, no issues at all. I left it in Germany from Sep til Dec last year and when I unlocked the case and took it out it was still tuned perfectly, and there was no more adjustments needed during the gigs than on my US Precision.
  6. I’d say get the instrument you felt most comfortable with. I learned on a short scale bass and it wasn’t a problem moving to regular scale so I wouldn’t have too many concerns in that area. The instrument you gel with best will make learning so much easier.
  7. The different strings could be a factor, my passive Precision string with steel rounds is louder than my active Stingray stung with nickel rounds.
  8. TC Unitune, it actually works in a gig environment, it’s all I’ve used for gigs since I bought one for a flying gig to cut down on weight.
  9. Funny old game, weight measurements. In the current situation I can relate how heavy the items are if described in grams, haven’t got a clue if in ounces. But go that bit heavier and it’s stones/pounds that I understand, clueless on kilos.
  10. I’m none the wiser from the pic, other than that it looks great.
  11. I’ve not played the Jazz but if the quality is similar to the Precisions then go for it, they are very good basses, play really well and sound good too.
  12. Pretty much the same as mine, great basses imo and a good price, glwts.

    Far too confusing!
  14. Yep, apparently Les Paul said - of Slash - that he’d be pretty good once he learned to play.
  15. In a band I was in a few years back the guitarist kept all his amps/cabs and PA gear in his garage. I suppose it depends in the garage in question, his was dry and in decent condition.

An 8 string bass, great, 5 strings to not play rather than just the 1.
  17. In that case I’d have to be third!
  18. You live & learn, puts a slightly different perspective on it, which is nice.
  19. I like the look of the new Original, based on that it looks, well original whereas most amps have a very similar look. I’ll certainly be interested in hearing one as although I love my RM500 v2, the added valveyness of the Original way we’ll be to much of a temptation.
  20. Did you go thicker or thinner gauge on the strings, if thinner that will have more if a noticeable effect than pretty much anything, especially combined with the old to new aspect.
  21. Good review of all aspects on each amp, nice to see how the Taurus was chosen. They’re a brand I’ve not used but did see the bassist from The Skids using a very lightweight and very great sounding Taurus stack when we played with them.
  22. Shiver me timbers 🏴‍☠️
  23. I watched a bit of it a few weeks ago and quite liked it. If it weren’t for the fact that I really like The Voice, which is on straight after I’d watch The Masked Singer but two singing competition shows in a row is too much for me.
  24. I used to use the Roto 50-110s and had a very low bassy sound, switched to 45-105s and midrange growl was suddenly there, may be worth a try before a pickup swap?
  25. If I had a problem with intonation as described I’d set it so the lower frets were “in” as that’s where most of my playing is. 12th fret, why I’d get nosebleeds up that high.
