  1. I’ve been in a similar position recently, and as much as it grieves me common sense has taken hold of the situation so have bought 2 basses that work better for me (and will offload my previous 2 gigging basses). I’d say fit the Jazz neck.
  2. I’d say two minimum, you never know what’s gonna happen at a gig so a backup is always helpful to have along.
  3. Depends on sound wanted but I’d look into the Tech21 gear. Fly-Rig, Dug have on board tuners so all in one easiness of use, VT/Bass Driver/Para Driver don’t but all can do some very good sounds. However If wanting to retain the sound of the instrument itself then MXR M80/81 worth looking at. Unlike the Tech21 gear there isn’t an inbaked sound
  4. It’s why I love the Rebellion Festival - 200+ punk/Oi bands over 4 days, INDOORS! All stages have decent loos and the drinks/food in there whilst not cheap is ok, and being smack in the middle of Blackpool town centre all your regular fast-food establishments are within easy walking distance. And they say us punks/skins are the stoopid ones!
  5. I can get by with 2. Just wondering whether that puts me in the genius camp or the pony camp.
  6. If running a clean sound I’d say it’s got to be worth a go.
  7. Yes, if you weren’t keen on the transparency/flat response of the BF Compact then providing you’re not looking for crisp modern highs the BF210 would fit the bill nicely.
  8. That is one cool looking set up, nice one!
  9. Tort all the way! And congrats on the bass, it’s great when you find an instrument that you just gel with instantly.
  10. The new Duff McKagan Sig? Jazz width neck (and Jazz bridge pickup) on a Precision body.
  11. Well imo that’s certainly a step in the right direction 😀
  12. Has there been any common factors - maple/rosewood fretboard or alder/ash bodies?
  13. I saw them at Brixton and when they started the first song it was so loud I couldn’t work out what song it was until the chorus. I swiftly moved upstairs and to the back where I could actually tell what songs were being played.
  14. Yep, I love pretty much everything Fender aside from the stock strings that come on their basses. First thing I do with a new Fender I’d swap the strings and the bass then comes alive.
  15. Probably easy to stick to one sound on bass in a band with as many musicians/singers as The Specials have.
  16. Yep, and there are some fans/promoters that look at a bands backline and if all they see are small combos don’t think they’re a real band. Listening with the eyes unfortunately. We were told once that a fairly high profile band wouldn’t want to use our gear. Well they did use it and they loved it - our gear back then being a Class D amp/212 for bass and 50watt 212 combo for guitar.
  17. Think this was Edinburgh in Fringe last year. The gig wasn’t part of Fringe btw.
  18. It certainly was an easy gig playing this bass, thoroughly recommended.
  19. Most of us on the Punk/Oi scene use a Sansamp or the like in order to try and maintain our sounds. I think the main area for the need for this are bands whose bassists use gain/drive, especially 3 pieces where the bass is in some ways doing a rhythm guitar job. Luckily these preamp/DI pedals are pretty good and provided there’s not too much low end they seem to be really easy to work with - many sound men seem to be really happy that I’m using one and often mention that it makes their job easier.
  20. Agree, I want the FOH to be sending the sound of the whole band to the audience, the sound we have worked on in order to create our sound. If any one part is changed it’s doing the band, but mostly the audience that has paid to see them a dis-service.
  21. Well, used the MIM Player Precision at a gig on Sat, no wrist/hand aches or pains, just done a video with one of my US Precisions and the aches and pains are back. I’m afraid I’m gonna just have to do the sensible thing, which is gutting but the very reason that I love my US Precisions is now causing me aches & pains. Bah!
  22. It will be Liam, just did a video shoot where I used one of my US ones and my left hand/wrist is aching/painful again. So the brain-of-Lozz is gonna take charge of this one, and push the heart to the side, MIM Players it be!
