  1. For practical use I’d go for the CMD121 & 121 ext cab - I did in fact have this same rig. Combo for rehearsals & small gigs, both for when more is required. The two together are very good indeed.
  2. What colour did you go for Steve, light in the rosewood top or black in the maple of the neck? This probably where I`ll end up once I have to drop the Precisions.
  3. Have been on the lookout for a while for a Fender US Standard 2013-16 Precision in Olympic White with maple neck, weighing less than 4kg. I’ve found recently that on brightly lit stages I can’t see where I am on a rosewood fretboard. Having a bad back basses under 4kg are my limit and for some reason even though I’ve arthritis in my left thumb playing a big fat neck doesn’t cause me pain. I’d decided to seek one out as Precisions are my fave basses so I’m going to play them until I physically can’t anymore. This one, a 2014 turned up so I bought it. Has a set of 45-100 Chromes on it and they sound & play really nice.
  4. Only bassists understand, humans, never……
  5. I’ve just bought a bass that has a nice set of Chromes on it, all the clank has worn off and it sounds really nice.
  6. A good few years back I named the band I was in The Gorgeous Heroes. It was meant to be ironic but some took it a bit too seriously. We folded probably 16 years ago and never seen anyone else stupid enough to use the name.
  7. Will be interested in what you think of them once installed
  8. I have to set the pickups under the E string considerably lower to stop it booming, on Jazzes it’s virtually even with the scratchplate (am talking neck pickup here).

    Tiny bass?

Is that Muttley from The Macc Lads, if so it’s some form of Westone.
  10. I’ve had a good few 210/115 set ups, all worked well, but in all cases the resulting sound of both cabs together was different than from either cab in its own. I’ve also had setups with 2 of the same cab and this worked much better, as essentially you get a good sound with one cab then double it. No changes to eq etc.
  11. I should cocoa
  12. Beautiful ‘burst on that
  13. I think it’s easier for me to say what I have tried: Precision Jazz Mustang Precision & Jazz pickup basses (both passive and active) Gibson-type basses with double humbuckers Stingray (both 2 & 3 eq) I’ve also played a Rickenbacker for about 10mins.
  14. Yep I thought it was a great bass sound too.
  15. I think it looks great with the tort, looks ok with white but agree the tort really brings it to life in a very retro way.
  16. I love all of those, especially In The Army Now.
  17. It would seem that my reaction to establishing I have too much gear is to buy more. In defence of this it has been bought for practical reasons.
  18. That’s def my preferred method too
  19. Yep I remember going to see a band and the sound man was cursing the drummer - who had just bought a Ludwig Black Beauty - for this, as in his words “it’s twice as loud as the rest of his kit”.
  20. Yeah it’s not exactly the biggest deal in the world to do this is it. Anything that improves the forum I’m all up for.
  21. I saw this thread and immediately thought of
  22. So it’s been through the wash due to you leaving it in your pocket and not checking?
  23. Yep, warms, thickens, adds in harmonic content but wouldn’t say drive.
  24. Surely 11 year old flats are considered so new they’re still under warranty?
  25. Yep, although I said earlier that in my last band we were all 100% in the same direction there was a division of labour. I`d say looking at it we were all in the practical camp. Singer/Guitarist - wrote 60% of the songs (but all lyrics), did all the online presence, designed album covers, arranged all the gigs, booked hotels when we were touring. Drummer - dealt with all the online merch sales (this actually quite considerable, so was time consuming). Me - I wrote about 40% of the songs (music only, though gave ideas for what the song was to be about) got one gig and printed the set lists. I also arranged ferries/flights/hotels in this country. I consider the set lists my greatest achievements, they were mighty fine!
