  1. Yes, once you’ve unplugged them you have to re-pair them. Apparently it takes an hour for them to go into standby mode so for a between sets break they’ll stay switched on if still plugged in.
  2. I must admit, my earlier post is a tad misleading, I don`t cut any mids I just boost the lows/hi-mids/highs which on a graphic would still look like a smiley face.
  3. I do the mid-scooping but I have a very specific sound, a lot of high end, and a good bit of gain when digging in (which is all the time), think Duff/Lemmy/JJ etc. As we are a 3 piece I need to fill out the sound when the guitar is soloing, but also as the guitar is an overdriven/distorted Les Paul, similarly keep out of the way of durging when chords are played. It’s not my automatic choice for a bass sound, it’s the one that fitted best with the guitar and style of music, as we tried a good few other sounds as well. I’m not one of those players with a sound they take with them, I try to get the best for whatever band I’m in at the time. And given the number of comments I get I think we’ve managed it, which I have to admit is very gratifying. Certainly the only band where anyone’s ever mentioned my bass sound up til now.
  4. Excellent, Henry is a really nice guy - as are the rest of them. Couldn’t believe it the first time we played with them that I was chatting to him, given how much I loved SLF when I was younger. I also think his views on the best album being Nobody’s Heroes is spot on, it had an energy about it that set it apart from the others.
  5. How is this still here? I have one of these and it’s truly the best amp I’ve ever had - I used to switch amps regularly, have had my ABM600 for over 2 years now and never even been tempted to try a different amp since getting it.
  6. Depends what model it was, Mick. For me the Ampeg thing is made by going through loads of speaker cones, seems to lose its way - for me anyway - when just a 115 or 210, needs to be 4x10s or more imo.
  7. I voted UK based on my record/CD collection. Although I like all types of music from all over what I buy/have bought has to be the most significant part in this vote.
  8. I only play Precisions so voted as such. In my mind I like the versatility of P/J but in reality I just fiddle and twiddle too much, simplicity rules for me.
  9. Def, XSLF gigs usually have a tale or two to say the least
  10. Yep, I thought it was great, and although I’m not a particular fan of Sgt Peppers now have a new found respect for it as a piece of work, given the creativity and engineering used in making it.
  11. Just watching a prog about Sgt Peppers, which analyses the various songs and how they’re made up. Macca was well ahead of the game with what he played.
  12. Only when I use a full valve rig such as SVT & 810 or connect my own amp up to a 412 or 810. Otherwise I’m pretty much there, haven’t used any other amp/410 configuration that gives more than my own rig, which is Ashdown ABM600 & ABM410. The experience described is why I went with Ashdown, I simply found when using their gear as provided rigs at gigs that it gave so much more than what I was previously using (Aguilar & Barefaced). It just made sense both in the ears, and in the pocket to make the switch.
  13. I got my last batch from Gear4Music, had the best price online and received within a couple of days of the order.
  14. I`ve only used the SL cabs at the London Bass Guitar Show, so not in a band setting or in a loud setting (aside from all the slap-fiends in the background of course). My thoughts were they sounded pretty lightweight to match their actual lightweightedness, I wasn`t very impressed at all.
  15. Do like that. On Tone 2 the Precision sounds much fatter and more “expensive”, rather like a good pickup swap has happened.
  16. I remember using your TC stack at a gig and being very impressed.
  17. A Precision, Liam, what were you thinking?
  18. Sounds feasible to me, my impressions of having had Badass bridges on my Precisions was that they made the lows and highs more focused, losing some mids in the process. Which kind of defeats the point of a Precision imo so I moved them on.
  19. And me, pile of pony to put it mildly.
  20. Nice sounds from that rig, not that I’d expect anything else of course.
  21. If you mean the Ashdown RM 410, yes I had one. It’s a great sounding cab, lightweight, stick some go faster castors on and it’s a real easy cab to move about.
  22. Agree, and adding a second identical cab is also a very grin-inducing move.
  23. I think the TC BH amps fit this bill quite nicely, have pretty much all the requirements covered.
