  1. Has to be done, if you’ve got em, flaunt em.
  2. The Hairy Dog, Derby, on Sat 14th. Love the place, it’s a very well thought out venue, designed by people who understand what musicians need at venues. And it has a great sign as you walk in that says: Rules of The Hairy Dog Just don’t be a knut (but written properly) You know what kind of place you’re in when that’s the welcome.
  3. In their new Vintera range there is a very 70s Mocha Telecaster Deluxe
  4. The best cover of a Beatles track I’ve heard is Helter Skelter by Motley Crue, so I suppose I’ll have to name Siouxsie & The Banshees version as the worst (tho it’s not bad, just not as good as Crues)
  5. Similarly I carry Speakon/Jack cables with Speakon/Jack converter plugs as I also rarely use my own cabs.
  6. We gig pretty much all the time, so make sure holidays are booked when there is a free space - I’m on hols this week, singer next week, we resume on 14 Sep so only had 3 weeks without a gig. It’s easy enough to sort if you’re organised.
  7. I’ve not got the contact details but look up Human Punk on Facebook. They’re a record company and promoters. They put out a single for us so will have used a pressing plant/company, they should be able to pass on details.
  8. Ashdown are on here, maybe message them: @Ashdown Engineering
  9. I don’t think it’s unreasonable at all, switch it the other way, would you expect him to cancel a holiday he’d already booked because you’d booked a gig. Put that to him, see what his reaction is.
  10. I’ve bought & sold within Europe, last Sale included me delivering to the buyer in The Netherlands as we were on tour in Germany and our route in wasn’t far from him.
  11. If the Markbass MM102 is like most of the other Markbass cabs it will most likely have a high end roll off. Not the worst deal in the world unless you always DI to FOH - at that point the FOH will get a much treblier sound than your on stage sound. I think Chris is pretty spot on re the BF cabs - there’s a great review of the 210 on here, put up a few days ago, def worth a read, and as per what Chris has said, the Super Twin will do even more.
  12. I did that once and felt dreadful about it, lesson learned will never do it again, second thoughts about selling something, well they’re my problem not the agreed buyers.
  13. Why not look into what pickups Fender are currently using in their Player Precision and then see if you can source one from them. It’s a warmer, more vintage sound than in the previous MIMs but not by much, still has the bite and clank and am fairly sure they don’t have a base-plate. It’s a nice sounding pickup imo.
  14. Ah, the good old days (not said in jest either).
  15. One thing to consider is the sound you like on bass. All my fave bassists play Precisions, that’s my fave sound. So when I was trying to get a sound I liked I never quite managed it, then the light was switched on, I was trying to get a Precision sound from non-Precision basses. Doh! As soon as I got my first Precision I’d found the sound I wanted. Makes a big difference being able to get the sound you want imo.
  16. You make it sound much more complex than it really is, Pete
  17. Yes from what I’ve read the EQ on the Little Marcus is a fair bit different- and more useable imo.
  18. Congrats, I’m really liking the look of these
  19. Olympic White for me, with rosewood fretboard and either black or tort pick-guard. Ironic really given I don’t have a bass in that colour scheme as maple fretboards work better for my current needs.
  20. Their T&Cs specifically prohibit musical instruments - don’t use them.
  21. Avast ye, shiver me timbers land-lubbers
  22. I think we all know that there’s no need to, as TE watts are just louder.....
  23. I love my basses, but in regards to the ones I Gig I’m not precious about them, if they pick up wear/knocks so be it. Which is why I no longer gig my fave one as don’t want anything happening to it, it has too much sentimental value.
  24. Kay EB-0 copy for bass, and some form of Vox practice amp. Action on the bass was incredibly high but at the time I didn’t know any better so that was how I learned and it made playing a better instrument so easy.
  25. I’d use the rig stated if it got me the sound I wanted, why not. I’ve seen many pro-bassists using MIM Fenders and Squiers, some using bitsas that have cost them £100, plus as per another topic on here, some amp set-ups are going for silly money, why not take advantage and use good gear at reasonable prices. For me my gigging basses are US Fenders, they are the best Precisions I’ve ever had, but I’ve gigged my Mex Player Precision that I bought for flying gigs and I’d be happy with a couple of those as my gigging basses. I do prefer the more expensive US ones but in reality I don’t need them.
