  1. Man I’d love this, but then I have three of this particular series already. Imo these are just about the best Precisions Fender have made, whoever snaps this up is in for a treat.
  2. The Ashdown RM range is worth a look. The amp itself is the fullest/heftiest Class D amp that I’ve had (amongst Markbass LMs, Ampeg PFs, GK MBs, Aguilar THs) and the cabs are quite small in footprint - the 210 is diagonal and the 115 fits with it exactly. They’re also lightweight, but not I should add sound wise, they really deliver on the sound. Plus the whole range is pretty decent value too.
  3. That were the one, had a great sound to it.
  4. Me too, never had one then, and nature/middle age has decreed I can’t have one now!
  5. Yep, you’ve broken the seal now.....
  6. Quality amps the 1001, very versatile and very powerful.
  7. Sounds like a great opportunity, will keep my fingers crossed for you
  8. To be honest I think it stems a lot - certainly with one of the bands - to the amount of beer that gets chucked at them when they’re playing. Why get an expensive bass drenched.
  9. I do know a couple of bassists from pretty high profile punk/Oi bands that use Squiers. One of the bands was very high profile back in the day. And slightly off-post but Pete Shelley used to use very cheap Epiphone guitars.
  10. When we did a blind Precision shootout at the Herts Bass Bash a few years back a Hoppus was the runaway winner. It beat a 50s, 60s, 2x70s plus US Precisions among others.
  11. Bah, you rotter!
  12. I wouldn’t want to name the ones I know, but there are a fair few seasoned pros on the punk/Oi scene that use MIM Fenders. And they sound great too.
  13. It`s worth trying to get over that phobia. I`ve just bought a Squier VM77 Jazz Bass and aside from the pickups which I`m changing due to very low output it`s a cracking bass. I`ve had numerous Jazzes and never really connected with any until this one.
  14. That`s the way I`d do it too.
  15. I hadn’t noticed the neck/bridge aspect but that suits me anyway, even more pleased now, cheers.
  16. Usually they are pretty high in sensitivity, think the ones I had were about 103/104
  17. Pretty much what the others have said, seem to be voiced more for live performance. The other thing is that the dispersion of sound is probably the best I`ve ever had from any cab, you need to move almost next to the cab for the sound to change, unlike many others where simply straying a step to one side or the other means much of the high-end is lost.
  18. I`ve just bought a Squier VM 77 Jazz and the output of the stock pups is low, so have looked at a pickup swap. After trawling the net I happened on Fender Vintage 74s, and the description plus online demos is pretty much as you describe - which is what I`m also after from the VM77 so have ordered a set.
  19. Really interested in these, but just one question, has anyone found a hard case for them at all?
  20. Or is it that they`re using the new so-called improved technology and can`t make a silk purse from a sows ear? I recall seeing The Darkness in the NEC in about 2006 and the PA speakers were the stacked vertically type that we`re told is the only way sound can be. And the sound was awful. Have seen them in other venues with traditional PA stacks, big blocks of speakers and they sounded great.
  21. At present looks like I can make it this year, be nice as had to miss the last couple due to gigging/tours etc.
  22. I think you can get live-in ones from recall, makes gigging nice & easy, unzip front & back, sorted.
  23. Same here, box of 10 on the way via the ‘bay.
  24. That’s a beauty Nik
  25. Strange isn’t it, a lot of this tech stuff is the emperors new clothes methinks, given how many of us hear pony sound nowadays.
