  1. Yep, it verily screams “70s”, great looking bass.
  2. I’d say it depends on how high the lip to the hatchback is, 66lbs lifted over a high lip, may be awkward. Also whether or not the cab will fit in that space at all. Certainly on my last Astra hatchback a Barefaced Super12 was the largest cab that would fit. A regular square shaped cab had no chance, and again that was down to the height of the lip. Imo though it’s def doable to move about by one person, I shift my Ashdown ABM410 on my own and that’s 10lbs heavier - and for reference I’m in my 50s. Stick some castors on it, nice and easy.
  3. I just couldn`t deal with that, OCD Rules & Regs, chapter 5, paragraph 12 state mahoosive overhang on amps/cabs shall not be permitted.

    Geddy Lee pedal

That’s a very interesting pedal methinks. Not a particular Rush/GL fan but I do like his tone. I just wonder how much we’ll get stuffed for it.
  5. I like Precisions, Jazzes, Rickenbackers, Thunderbirds, Les Paul’s and that’s it. I suppose I’m a bit of a traditionalist but all these modern things just look dreadful to me. Don’t care how they sound or play, I’m walking past.
  6. Well I suppose it could do this, but as I have it set twangy/driven I`m using it to harshen the sound of my warm ABM600. I never said I was normal...………………..
  7. Still happens. Personally I love all this as the punk scene is now what it always should have been, friendly and a good laugh, everyone getting on, punks, Skins, goths, crusties, all getting along together and listening to some great - and not so great, but who cares - music.
  8. Tis the Stewart Copeland one this eve, should be good viewing.
  9. Not a bad first gig though, Russ, decent venue that.
  10. My first bass was one of those - action about 4 miles away from the neck.
  11. I decided on Never Get a Job, by The Last Resort. It all went quiet after that.
  12. Ashdown are on here, why not try them see if they can assist: @Ashdown Engineering
  13. Probably the most important thing/things I’ve picked up along the way are playing what the song requires, rather than being flashy and showing off my chops so to speak, and getting the sound I use to be the right sound for the band.
  14. Yep, for some reason we had karaoke at work just before Xmas, and everyone was trying to get me up singing. I play bass in a skinhead punk band, my "singing" is really not for karaoke at TV volumes in the workplace. They said, well can`t you do a Bon Jovi song then, as if for some reason skinhead punk and Bon Jovi are similar. So I showed them a clip of the type of music I listen to and play. That stopped `em.
  15. I think their Original DI/Preamp does that, but it doesn`t come cheap. Still, quality often doesn`t.
  16. I`d drop Alex a line and enquire, he`ll I`m sure be more than happy to recommend which of BFs smaller range of cabs will be similar in sound to the Super Twin.
  17. Looks great and having played through one a couple of years back - albeit at home practice levels - they sound great too, congrats.
  18. These are the only pedal I’ve used that really has that spongey valvey feel to the sound.
  19. I have one that reads: God invented bass players so guitarists could have heroes too. Our guitarist does not approve (so it does it’s job pretty well imo)
  20. Those 900s sound great, heard a band using one last month, no pedals or anything, the sound was really nice, full, warm, but not overbearing, just sat really nice in the mix.
  21. That’s what I thought - maybe someone’s rubbed off part of the 9 to make it look like a 5.......
  22. Thinking about this, my best purchase was Warwick Red Label steel roundwound strings - they sound pretty much like my previous faves, Rotosounds, but last 2 to 3 times as long. And they’re about half the price as well.
