  1. I think it’s horses for courses, Motörhead, Guns N Roses, Sex Pistols, for bands like that crib sheets & iPads just aren’t “the look”. Now people could take a pop and say well that music isn’t difficult, wouldn’t be needed, well prob not except the Slash parts.
  2. Ye an 8ohm cab is what you need, ideally a 1x12 to match, the Markbass NY121 is a very good fit. Louder, well the difference between what your amp puts out at 8ohms and 4ohms won’t be that much but - and a big but - you’ll effectively be doubling the amount of the sound so it will seem much bigger/louder. I had the CMD121P combo paired with the NY121 cab and though I only ever played to the volume of the drums there was a really noticeable change to the amount of sound when using both as opposed to just the combo.
  3. Motley Cruel, lol 😂
  4. Yeah no need to force it, if it’s not hitting the spot put it to the side, it may come back it may not.
  5. This reminded me of Loadsamoney from the 80s - I came out of the house this morning and my car was facing the wrong way, so I bought a new one!
  6. Cheap at half the price - I accurately doubt I’d manage that if I paid 50 times more for them.
  7. So beer drinking countries = L & XL Wine drinking countries = M Makes sense, who ever heard of a wine belly?
  8. Def, in my last band we found that vinyl sold great in Wales and Europe, CDs not so much, whereas in England CDs sold much better than vinyl. And yes, L & XL shirts are the "sellers".
  9. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a band where a drummer has done this. But then subtlety of playing not that prevalent in the punk/Oi scene I suppose.
  10. Local gigs, chat with the bands and make yourself known as a bassist available for work.
  11. I don’t think so, was a long time ago but fairly sure not - the VPF probably was though.
  12. I like Markbass gear but found their cabs to have a high end roll off, still sounded great though. But put a Markbass amp through an uncoloured cab such as Barefaced or LFSys and imo the amps then really shine.
  13. Yeah gonna see how things pan out, no rush, I’ve said I’ll cover 2025 for them, see how I feel then.
  14. Well first rehearsal done and it felt like the last 5 years hadn’t happened and that I’d never left, sounded great, really tight, and the JMJ really worked - tho I had to use a thinner pick to coax some top end nastiness. Even my backing vox were to standard, which was the area I thought I might be lacking in. Overall am pretty pleased.
  15. Most for me was 400, Hemel Hempstead to Torquay and return. I did deliver a bass to a buyer in The Netherlands once, we were on tour so met up with him just down the road from where he lived.
  16. Fender Tariffcaster perhaps?
  17. My old band used to sell loads of CDs at gigs and online. The keyboard player in my current band is their accountant. Of course he doesn’t divulge specifics but they’re doing quite well so I’d think they still sell a fair few.
  18. Thanks Joey, funnily enough until we got quite well known as people knew two of us were Andys but didn’t know which two I also got called Andy for a while. Kind of an honorary membership I suppose.
  19. I can’t see why not, there’s a lot of boost available, and you can select the frequency to boost which imo is the real bonus. Many years ago I used an active bass and had a sort of solo, all I did was boost the mids on the bass itself and the solo really stood out, looks to me like this pedal would do the same and more.
  20. I wish I were the same Bill, though I do have a bass at the moment that I bought new in 2015 which I’ll never sell (unless things determine otherwise of course).
  21. Wireless kits imo are essential if doing the sound yourself, at least for one member of the band.
  22. Yeah a few rig rundowns I’ve watched have shown speakers being under the stages.
  23. My old band Knock Off have decided to part ways with their bassist so have asked me to help them out until they get a permanent replacement. Am looking forward to it, though coaxing that old aggressive sound out is a challenge as now playing Fender JMJ Mustangs rather than Precisions for my backs sake, plus my hands can’t take that battering playing style anymore, am sure I’ll find a way though. Some good gigs lined up (Cocksparrer on May 31st in Islington being the first one up) and will be nice to catch up with a lot of people I’ve not seen since I left at end of 2019.
