I know a fair few who’ve done similar with swapping their Les Paul Customs for Tokai Love Rocks.

How many of us are in bands that have broken up?
Lozz196 replied to Jonesy's topic in General Discussion
You can break up if you ever manage to all get together…… -
That’s what I always tried to do.

Which companies are dead to you?
Lozz196 replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion

Yup, for pickups Tonerider. I’d also consider changing the electrics at the same time to a KiOgon (Basschat member) loom with Fender US specs. For one it makes the install of new pickups easier and secondly in many cases the reason Squiers sound twangier than Fenders is the pots, often 500s as oppose to the 250s that Fender use.

Very good point, I love my JMJs, they’re amazingly good instruments.

A few years back I played a Master Built Strat, it was hands down the best guitar I`ve ever played. I`d gone to buy an SG from a private sale and although it was a good guitar I left with it feeling decidedly disappointed after playing said Strat.

They`re the ones that make the new Fender Blingycaster

I’ve only played one Custom Shop instrument, a Pino Palladino Precision. It was awesome. Not sure I’d pay £5k for one (not that I could anyway) but it really was a superb instrument.

A mysterious chip appears on your brand new bass guitar.... you....

C - accept that these things happen. If it could be specifically determined who damaged it then take it up with them but if not then keep schtum. -
Where would you put the bridge pickup?
Lozz196 replied to DF Shortscale's topic in Repairs and Technical
I think @Baloney Balderdash has got it right, position C to approximate where a J pickup would most likely be situated. -
Yep, 125 watts (assuming it’s exactly half power of the 250) into a 112 is a big ask in a band scenario. That amp might be ok with two of those 112s as a temporary measure but I’d be wanting a bit more I think.

Good call Dave, it’s not a race but a journey of hopefully enjoyment. For the amount of time I’ve been playing (43 yrs) I’m sure I should be better than I am but I’ve never not been able to play something that I needed to which to me is what counts.

Ideas on a 'Swiss Army " backpack for small gig items
Lozz196 replied to Born 2B Mild's topic in General Discussion
I use Wenger backpacks for this, they’re waterproof, incredibly hard wearing and have multiple sections to put things in. I am going to be selling one (poss two) soon, let me know if interested (am fully paid up on here for selling items so not dodging anything).- 22 replies

Best me to it.

When I started out I took lessons to find out what the notes on the fretboard were, from there I bought the songbook to my fave album, Nevermind The Bollocks by The Sex Pistols and learned to play it. Very inspiring learning the songs of your fave band.

When playing at home I always have my compressor - Zoom MS60B set to the 160 Comp - as it really evens things out and is especially good for helping me on new material. But try as much as I can I can never get one to work for me live. I suppose I need someone to show me the right settings when I’m playing then to nail them into place so I can’t ruin them and mess them up.

Possible arthritis in my fingers - any help or experience?
Lozz196 replied to jonnybass's topic in General Discussion
See if you can borrow a short-scale bass to see if that helps. If movement is the issue then less movement than usual might be beneficial. -
I think I’d capitalise on the Fender Rumble 112 by getting another one, then add in an amp head of choice - to be safe I’d look at a 500 watt head so as to not have to push it. Plenty of choice out there, and especially on here.

JMJ is your friend

I think that may have been me, I liked the 1000 but the 600 just had what I felt was a bit more grunt to it.

Spacewasters gig at The Trinity Bar, Harrow last night, as part of a Shake Some Acton event with four bands on the bill. Very small stage that, now we’re a 5 piece was cramped to say the least. Being so small onstage sound was poor but having heard the other bands we knew sound out front was good - kudos to the sound man, he was attentive to all the bands all night and didn’t blast the volume to max or make bass drums sound like explosions. Went very well, lots of applause and cheering, which is always nice, and was home before midnight. Forgot to mention, the rig I used was a Hartke HA3500 into a Trace Elliot 4x10, was easy to get a very decent sound from it.

Aaarrrggghh, am sure it sounds great but I’m def one of the OCD Squad, I’d be terrified of it toppling over.
