  1. The LM3 runs at full power at 4ohms, so if you add in another 4ohm cab you`ll need a splitter-box (not sure of the technical terms, but OBBM on here can make one for you). Doubling up on cabs is great, it makes everything sound so much bigger - well twice as big I suppose. In terms of volume it seems louder as the sound is fuller, but as you`re currently getting the full power of the LM3 to your current cab anyway you wouldn`t get any more power, just a greater depth of sound.
  2. If you can get hold of a Fender US Standard 2012 - 16 Series neck, these are the chunkiest Precision necks on US Standard models that I`ve come across. Not as chunky as the Steve Harris admittedly, but much chunkier than the previous few US Standard series, there`s not that much difference to the SH.
  3. I`ve had the Classic 50s, great bass, felt really solid and chunky, and was possibly the most aggressive sounding Precision on the market that I`ve played. Not had a Road Worn but have played a few and love them, aside from a Pino Palladino Custom Shop probably the most comfortable Precisions I`ve had the pleasure to play. If they did them in black I`d have one, but they don`t, so I haven`t. So my vote is for the RW, exceptional basses in, unfortunately, colours I don`t want.
  4. As far as I know Gary Mac on here is selling a 60s Precision that would fit the bill rather nicely. Removes all the trust issues as Gary is well known and respected on here, plus - I believe - is one of the Mods as well.
  5. I don`t like instruments used on traditional Irish/Celtic music or folk music. I know it`s not the style of music that I don`t like, as as soon as Irish/Celtic music is played on an electric guitar I love it.
  6. My thoughts on this are that as you like the GK 410 why not see if there is a smaller GK cab that would fit the bill. But if BF is the way to go I think the advice to drop Alex a line is the best, he`s not one to recommend one of his cabs to get a sale, only if it will be fit for what the user wants.
  7. It has to be the traditional Barefaced One10 recommendation. I`m selling an Ashdown RM112 which would pair nicely with the Superfly but it might be just that little bit too big (it`s not massive, just a regular 1x12), whereas the BF will fit the requirements nicely.
  8. On the punk scene you see people from all over the place at gigs, I might see someone in Blackpool one weekend, then bump into them in Penzance a few weeks later. Some people seem to spend their every weekend going to gigs. Now this might be an age thing, they`re all 40s/50s, so maybe it`s because that`s what they used to do in their youth and either are doing it again, now that kids have grown up/left home, or they`ve just always done it. But whichever, the punk scene gets good attendance, and not just for the bands that were around when punk first came out.
  9. I always recommend the Seymour Duncan Hot Stack - it`s hum cancelling, and sounds just like a Jazz bridge pickup but bigger, like an extra 10 or 20%. I chose one due to Duff McKagan using them and imo it was a wise choice. Additionally, Project _C, if you decide to move on the Custom Shop 62 Precision pickups I`ll be happy to take them off your hands.
  10. I`ve played a couple of 60s Precisions and they felt great, a couple that were ok, but all the Road Worn Precisions I`ve played felt amazing.I think it`s down to the actual instrument itself as to whether or not it`s worth the money, and even then it`s compatability with the buyer, what is great to some is pony to another.
  11. I`m not in Booze & Glory btw, just was lucky enough to play a few gigs on the same bill as them - they`re my fave band so was awesome. One was down your way too, at The Fleece.
  12. A band I love, and have been lucky enough to play gigs with, Booze & Glory started out in 2008. They released their 4th album last year, and have been pretty much on a world tour since then. They started out as an Oi band, but have shifted slightly to a street-punk band, still a minority genre, yet they`ve all had to give up work in order to be in the band full-time. It is possible, yes the odds are stacked against us originallers more than ever, but with a clear idea of what is wanted, band members who are prepared to put in the graft, and a good working ethic it can be done. Even if the aim isn`t to "make it" but to venture forwards you can still have a great time, accepting that "making it" isn`t what is wanted. We`ve no intentions of that, we`re too old, and too comfortable in regular working life, yet in the four years we`ve been together our profile has grown and we`ve had a blast doing it. We released our 3rd album last year, and already in 2018 have gigs booked in (if you include England, Scotland & Wales) 7 countries. There`s also possibility of an overseas tour with a larger band being proposed. Our albums on vinyl are with record companies but on CD we handle that ourselves, along with all of the other merch. So it is possible to do a whole lot more than you`d think, but it requires no passengers, lead, follow, or get out of the way really (I`m a follower btw).
  13. And there is the other theory that if they negotiate more, maybe we should practise harder.......................
  14. Looking at the practicalities, the One10s are full range speakers, whereas on the Two10 one is full range, one is low-range only. So with three One10s the eq-ing woud be pretty much the same no matter what the combination of cabs, whereas with the One10 & Two10 maybe eq would need adjusting depending on which cab used singly/both together were used. Not that big a deal, but something to consider. That said, adding some lows in on bigger stages automatically, whilst keeping the same eq could be an advantage.
  15. It maybe a bit different on the originals punk circuit, but if we ever have to pull out of a gig we`ll contact bands we know and put them in touch with the promoter. What they agree amongst themselves is their business, if they get more well done to their negotiating power. If they get less, well practice a bit harder (that remark said in jest btw).
  16. I`m pretty much GAS free at present. Last year I bought a huge amount of gear in the aim of finding the best gear for my needs within my band. I`ve established that, so now I have a lot of gear to move on. I`d still love a Jazz that I could both play well and make sound nice, but in general that doesn`t happen with me and Jazz basses so that will remain an "if only". Edit - just remembered, as we`re getting a few more festival gigs, with larger stages, a wirelss kit is on my shopping list. Not so I can Bon-jovi all over the stage mind, just so I don`t have to buy 100 foot long leads.
  17. Sounds like the ABM600 is probably nearer to the JJB600 then, Kevin. I find it to be a fair bit sharper/clinical sounding than the 1000.
  18. Yep the OTB is a great amp, but that tone stack/eq is very puzzling.
  19. Quite agree, and for all those that knock his drumming ability, maybe they should ponder on the fact that two of the best songwriters in the world wanted his drumming on their songs, in their band.
  20. Of course, forgot about these. Probably once of the nicest sounds for bass imo, rich and warm. Would work a treat for the music specified, and even the 500 watt 210 combo isn`t weighty by all accounts.
  21. Many lightweight amps/cabs to check out, but for lightweight amp heads my recommendation would be the Ashdown Rootmaster as FinnDave said. It`s the nearest I`ve found to that weighty big amp "feel" in the smaller amp heads. Cab-wise, well Barefaced have it covered here - the style of music suggests an old-school sound to me, so the Retro Two10 would be a great cab to look into. Most of BFs range is very neutral/flat sounding (not a criticism btw), whereas the Retros are pretty much as described, Retro with a softer top end. Having had cabs from both ranges, for 70s rock I`d choose a Retro.
  22. Yep, Maruszcszyk will build pretty much what is required from all accounts. I`ve played one of their 32" scale basses and it was great, just a regular Precision type but medium scale. If I ever start to get creaky fingers the this will be the avenue I`ll go down.
  23. I prefer the tort on the reissue, but other than that they look virtually identical, a great pair there.
  24. I know that I`ll regret not buying the 70s Jazz that Maut is selling on here, as I think it is simply the coolest looking Jazz there is, black/black/maple, pearlescent blocks. A mate of mine has one and it just looks - and sounds - the business. However I can`t afford it, and I don`t play Jazzes very well so that`s how I will console myself.
  25. I think it`s nice to see Ringo get this, his career has brought enjoyment to many, whose lives may not have been so enjoyable if not for his work. But my thoughts are along the same lines as PaulWarning & Dr.Dave here, there are many unseen heroes who are just as/more deserving of honours for the good that they do.
