  1. Yep, if the goods provided aren`t up to the standard they should be then a full refund should be issued.
  2. I`ve no intention of any changes re my band, I only hope that 2018 brings the same (or more) enjoyment as 2013 - 2017 have. A few European Festivals already booked, so that`s something new to look forward to, along with another slot at The Rebellion Festival in Blackpool in August, so 2018 already shaping up to be a year of good fun.
  3. Not sure how the DiMarzio Model J is, but if it`s like its P-Bass cousin, as in it adds mids and removes some highs then I`d say this would be getting nearer, but as above pickups in series or buy a Precision is the real way. The Seymour Duncan Hot Stack pickup is hum-cancelling and adds in a lot of "size" to the sound so that may also be a way of getting more from the neck pickup position.
  4. What does "whitelist" mean - my notifications are going to junk-mail folder, assume this is the fix but no idea of technical terminology.
  5. Looks like a nice bit of kit from the website, and looking at the frequency settings imagine it to be a more old-school sound, no modern low-lows. Looks well thought out to me.
  6. I reckon that would be awesome
  7. Yeah I have a very punchy/gainy sound, which all comes from my Para Driver, but I`ve experimented with the amp to see if I can get that in case the Para Driver fails etc. I can get there pretty much with Bass at about 9pm/10pm, either of the low-mid sliders dropped a bit - I usually drop the right hand side one - regular mids at noon, then on the upper-mid sliders boost a fair bit on the right hand side one, plus up the left hand side one a bit. Treble, well add a bit but I find on a P-bass it doesn`t seem to do much. To get my gain I just bump the drive to suit, and I keep the compression and sub-harmonics completely off. Adding in the pre-shape - which for some reason is out on the control-knob, not in, can work nicely as well depending on what cab is being used. ABM cabs are pretty scooped anyway so I don`t use it, but if I`m connected to a honky/middy cab then selecting that removes that honk nicely. I do this on both my amps, I`ve the ABM600 & 1000. It all works better on the 600, the eq seems more flexible on that one, and alterations seem to yield better results, but the 1000, which is based on the 500s eq gets there too.
  8. I remember the days of cleaning spark plugs on my two stroke motorbikes as well guys, fond memories at that, cheers for the reminders
  9. If it`s an ABM I find that the treble control doesn`t do much, but adding on the hi-mid really sharpens up the sound, plus backing off of either of the low-mids to taste.
  10. Well I think you`re pretty spot on with the GK RB1001, it fills all requirements stated, and even in a shallow rack case isn`t heavy or awkward to move about. I think there`s one on here at present.
  11. Tools for the job imo, when I depped I had a script-sheet for some songs on top of my amp as reminders. if I were depping unfamiliar material regularly then I wouldn`t have a problem with it, even though I do think it looks dreadful. Far better to look dreadful in a band than sound it.
  12. For this I`d look at a Markbass CMD121P. Tiny little box, bags of power, and a much bigger sound than would be expected. Pairs nicely with Sansamp as well. Yes you can go down the route of small Class D amp head and Barefaced One10 which is a good option, but you`ll then be getting into higher expense and more gear to set up.
  13. Ah, now that is a bit far, nothing planned for Scotland until later next year.
  14. Whereabouts are you, distance not necessarily a probem
  15. I`d choose whichever Markbass 1x15 cab is the same size/footprint, unless they recommend a specific cab to go with that amp. Doubling up with the same is pretty much a safe bet, and usually sounds great.
  16. The GK MB range seems to get a lot of praise on Talkbass, might be worth checking out over there if you`ve not already done so.
  17. Yep, if anything the items I`ve seen for sale on here with fake logos have so clearly been pointed out only someone not willing to read all of the ads could ever have claimed to have bought items being sold under false pretences. I do see where the OP is coming from though, it`s a valid point and maybe something that should be considered by the mods, and maybe put to the forum for guidance/opinions.
  18. My first "proper" bass was one of these, in that colour scheme. A real workhorse - back in the days before I even thought of backup basses that bass was my trusty companion for a good 4 years solid gigging, never a fault with it, could always be relied on. If I wasn`t doing a bit of common sense at present I`d be tempted for nostalgia reasons.
  19. Makes sense, I`m sure the 500 issues are sorted by now, but I`ve not read any problems re the 800s, and if same price, well why not have another 300 watts to play with
  20. I`d reckon with those Fender flats, all eq at noon on amp, tone on full on the Yammy you should be in ska heaven.
  21. I`ve always had good service with UPS, booked via Interparcel. As others have said, bubble-wrap, then cardboard. Sometimes it`s worth spending that bit extra for reliability and although UPS are that tad more expensive, certainly for basses and amps I choose them. For smaller not so fragile items I`ll go for the cheaper options though.
  22. Congrats, I had the 500 version years ago and it was a really nice sounding amp, one of those where you can set all eq at midday and just play, tweak compression/gain to suit.
  23. Whilst my first recommendation would be Fender Precision or Jazz, I do agree with the other posts that the Yammy should be fine for this. Neck pickup, and flats or worn-in roundwounds, away you go. Bear in mind that what sounds trebly/bright on its own usually translates into a good presence-type bass in the mix. Check out some isolated bass tracks re this - they`ve usually got much more top-end on them than would seem evident from the final mix.
