1. I think the major thought process on this thread is that we all agree that these types of behaviour aren`t right, but we can all understand that they are unfortunately inevitable.
2. Yep and Fender did do a Classic 70s Precision, available in white or sunburst, with maple neck/blocks & bindings.
3. I had one of the earlier, "original/proper" sized ones and it was great, really deep and warm sound that was easy enough to add some bite to, to stop it becoming mush. It sat a lot lower on the tonal spectrum than my Fender Precision, when plugging the trusty P-Bass into the same amp/same settings it just sounded like Mid-City in comparison. I used mine for heavy rock, to provide that low rumbling foundation on which the guitar heroes build their egos. it worked very well for that, kindof like a Thunderbird, but portable and easy to play.
4. Higher action for me, but then my playing style, and the sound I want, require me to be rather hard-hitting. So I`d say probably to anyone finding that higher action sounds better, maybe it`s just suiting your playing style better than lower?
5. Make sure you check all your gear before both setting off, both that it works, and that you have everything you need. Aim to be early. Don`t drink to calm your nerves. If you make a mistake in a song try not to dwell on it and just move on to the next song - with the rest of the band of course.
6. I had the RM-500-EVO that Scrumpymike now has as a backup to my ABM600. I found it to be pretty near the ABM tonally, the only real difference being the lows on the ABM are at 60Hz I think, in comparison to the RMs 100Hz, so adjusting lows gave a slight difference. Other than that the only other difference was the H-word, heft, that authority of delivery. On bigger stages the ABM just has more.
7.
I`ve had numerous amps over the years - since joining Basschat that is. Too many to list but those I`d mention as being ones I`ve particularly liked are the Markbass Little Mark Tube, Aguilar Tonehammer, and Ashdown ABM600-EVO IV & RM-500-EVO. I`m yet to have an amp that I don`t like as I can usually find a sound I can work with from most.
And continuing from here I can say, having used the Ashdown ABM600 a fair bit more, it`s def my fave that I`ve had. It`s heavier than most of the other amps I`ve had, yet the sound and the sheer depth to that sound is why I`ve kept it. It pairs really well with my Sansamp Para Driver too, they just seem to work really well toether.
8. When anyone, male or female promotes their act by dressing and moving sexily, it`s likely to get that kind of response from some people. If the dancing and singing was the important thing then they could wear baggy sack-cloth couldn`t they? And after all, Elvis`s stage popularity no doubt was hugely inflated due to both his image and his moves. If he had looked like Winston Churchill or Napoleon Bonaparte, and worn clothing like the Wurzels, yet sand & perfomed exactly the same it`s unlikely we would have heard of him today. And people screamed at him - but oh yes, that`s girls doing it to men, so that must be ok then. Not really much difference to blokes doing it to girls really. Are we all that upset that girls used to scream at Elvis, Cliff, The Beatles, and The Stones? Nah, thought not.
9. NOW SOLD My often repeated foray into flats, only to find I just don`t like them. Cut for a Precision these have probably had less than an hours play. Around £30 new, £18 gets them to your door within the UK.
10. ITEM NOW SOLD One genuine Fender Tort Scratchplate for Precision in great condition, has been fitted to a bass that has never been taken out of my flat, so no battle scars. Fits US/MIM/MIJ models. Has the cut-out for truss-rod adjustment at the heel of the neck. £80 at Thomann (and currently out of stock too) so £40 delivered within the UK.
11. ITEM SOLD Based in Hemel Hempstead (J8 on the M1, 20 miles north of London) One Ashdown RM-414-EVO in good condition. I`ve upraded the speakers to Eminence Betas (fitted by Ashdown themselves) so the cab is now rated at 1000 watts at 4ohms. Comes with an all black Roqsolid cover. H x W x D (mm): 655 x 604 x 335 Weight (kg): 28 (new cones a tad heavier than stock) The castors in the pic are currently not attached, as the cab is boxed & ready to go, but will be included if required. Am selling a few items so can`t load too many pics - if interested PM me for more. Now £250 and it`s yours. Due to size & weight collection or meet-up preferred.

14. ITEM NOW SOLD Based in Hemel Hempstead (J8 on the M1, 20 miles north of London) One rather nice US Standard Fender Precision, in fairly good condition, a few bits of buckle rash but nothing major. There are a couple of marks on the back of the neck, as per photos, about 1mm deep. Don`t affect playability but only fair to point them out, plus that`s the reason why this bass isn`t the £800 plus that US Precisions are currently going for. Pic two shows a mark approx 5mm long, between frets 3 & 4, pic three shows a small mark at fret 11. Weight approx 9.2lbs. Comes with a Hiscox Hard Case (complete with key). Am selling a few items so can`t load too many pics - if interested PM me for more. Now £675 and it`s yours. No trades thanks.
15. Going by your other post about this one it seems booze/credit card/internet did you a favour Dave. Wish I could blame my over-indulgence on booze, but due to being teetotal I only have GAS and stoopidity to blame it on, and mainly the latter.
16. Fender Rumble or Ampeg BA sound the way to go. Both work great with P-Basses (have had both myself). Whether or not they`d cope for gigs, well depends on what type of music/instruments in band really. There are a good few options in each range though, so worth checking out.
17. Not used one but heard a bassist using one and with his P-Bass it sounded awesome, was really impressed.
18. I`ve a Fender Rumble 15 that isn`t being used at present, happy to let it go for £40.
19.
Hi Lozz - couldn't have put it better myself Post from Bassix confirms that I did the right thing!
Def Mike, in fact it was hearing Bassix`s RM500 at a gig that prompted me to buy mine.
20. Nice one Mike, glad you like it, they really are a hidden gem amongst the smaller Class D amps imo, seem to have a lot more "oomph" to them.
21.
They're great cabs. Fairly lightweight, robust. The horn function, while basic, works well to pick up high frequencies. I think the rating is 1000w. I pair mine with the matched 2x10 for different applcations. Both my cabs are on the sale board; I won Barefaced cab last year and that's become my go to enclosure.

They do seem very good, do they actually 'sound' good?
They do, I heard this very rig a few years ago at an SE Bass Bash and it was probably my fave sound of the day - tight, focused, but not lacking in any lows at all.
22. Bridge is back, neck is front
23. Love Barefaced, had many of their cabs, but I do many gigs with provided rigs and the ones where I used Ashdowns, both amps & cabs, were the ones that made me smile the most, so it made sense to go that way. I tried the Ashdown amps/Barefaced cabs and it was good, but I just prefer the sound of a full ABM set-up (BF do win in the weight/portability points tho). No criticism of BF though, fantastic company, fantastic products, am sure I`ll be back to BF at some point.
24. I`ve found that neck pickup on full, bridge pickup backed completely off then gradually roll it back on just until you hear it change the tone a bit. Then drop some highs on your amp a touch, add in mids (low-mids if possible) by the same amount and you`re almost there. Not exactly but say 85/90%. Precisions are all about chunky low-mids, Jazzes are more scooped with clearer (and more) highs so it`s a case of compensating for that on the amp. The pickups on the bass help - that bridge "just on" adds in some middiness to the sound that the neck pickup soloed just doesn`t have. A mate of mine uses a 70s Jazz but unless you saw it you`d swear that it was a Precision - I think the fact that he changes his roundwound strings at most every 10 years helps as well. Loses a lot of the bottom and top end from them, so left with a bucket-load of mids. Always going to help on this.
25.
Highfox that sounds great! Were you going through the pa or backline only?
Yeah, great tone there Don, sounds just like the original.
