Quite agree, and for all those that knock his drumming ability, maybe they should ponder on the fact that two of the best songwriters in the world wanted his drumming on their songs, in their band.

Of course, forgot about these. Probably once of the nicest sounds for bass imo, rich and warm. Would work a treat for the music specified, and even the 500 watt 210 combo isn`t weighty by all accounts.

Many lightweight amps/cabs to check out, but for lightweight amp heads my recommendation would be the Ashdown Rootmaster as FinnDave said. It`s the nearest I`ve found to that weighty big amp "feel" in the smaller amp heads. Cab-wise, well Barefaced have it covered here - the style of music suggests an old-school sound to me, so the Retro Two10 would be a great cab to look into. Most of BFs range is very neutral/flat sounding (not a criticism btw), whereas the Retros are pretty much as described, Retro with a softer top end. Having had cabs from both ranges, for 70s rock I`d choose a Retro.

Yep, Maruszcszyk will build pretty much what is required from all accounts. I`ve played one of their 32" scale basses and it was great, just a regular Precision type but medium scale. If I ever start to get creaky fingers the this will be the avenue I`ll go down.

I prefer the tort on the reissue, but other than that they look virtually identical, a great pair there.

Real Fenders you regret not buying.

I know that I`ll regret not buying the 70s Jazz that Maut is selling on here, as I think it is simply the coolest looking Jazz there is, black/black/maple, pearlescent blocks. A mate of mine has one and it just looks - and sounds - the business. However I can`t afford it, and I don`t play Jazzes very well so that`s how I will console myself. -
I think it`s nice to see Ringo get this, his career has brought enjoyment to many, whose lives may not have been so enjoyable if not for his work. But my thoughts are along the same lines as PaulWarning & Dr.Dave here, there are many unseen heroes who are just as/more deserving of honours for the good that they do.

Yep, if the goods provided aren`t up to the standard they should be then a full refund should be issued.

I`ve no intention of any changes re my band, I only hope that 2018 brings the same (or more) enjoyment as 2013 - 2017 have. A few European Festivals already booked, so that`s something new to look forward to, along with another slot at The Rebellion Festival in Blackpool in August, so 2018 already shaping up to be a year of good fun.

Not sure how the DiMarzio Model J is, but if it`s like its P-Bass cousin, as in it adds mids and removes some highs then I`d say this would be getting nearer, but as above pickups in series or buy a Precision is the real way. The Seymour Duncan Hot Stack pickup is hum-cancelling and adds in a lot of "size" to the sound so that may also be a way of getting more from the neck pickup position.

Thanks chaps, will give it a go.

What does "whitelist" mean - my notifications are going to junk-mail folder, assume this is the fix but no idea of technical terminology.

Looks like a nice bit of kit from the website, and looking at the frequency settings imagine it to be a more old-school sound, no modern low-lows. Looks well thought out to me.

Yeah I have a very punchy/gainy sound, which all comes from my Para Driver, but I`ve experimented with the amp to see if I can get that in case the Para Driver fails etc. I can get there pretty much with Bass at about 9pm/10pm, either of the low-mid sliders dropped a bit - I usually drop the right hand side one - regular mids at noon, then on the upper-mid sliders boost a fair bit on the right hand side one, plus up the left hand side one a bit. Treble, well add a bit but I find on a P-bass it doesn`t seem to do much. To get my gain I just bump the drive to suit, and I keep the compression and sub-harmonics completely off. Adding in the pre-shape - which for some reason is out on the control-knob, not in, can work nicely as well depending on what cab is being used. ABM cabs are pretty scooped anyway so I don`t use it, but if I`m connected to a honky/middy cab then selecting that removes that honk nicely. I do this on both my amps, I`ve the ABM600 & 1000. It all works better on the 600, the eq seems more flexible on that one, and alterations seem to yield better results, but the 1000, which is based on the 500s eq gets there too.

How many Facebook group members does it take to change a spark plug?
Lozz196 replied to ead's topic in General Discussion
I remember the days of cleaning spark plugs on my two stroke motorbikes as well guys, fond memories at that, cheers for the reminders -
Well I think you`re pretty spot on with the GK RB1001, it fills all requirements stated, and even in a shallow rack case isn`t heavy or awkward to move about. I think there`s one on here at present.

Music stands - are they as common as I think?
Lozz196 replied to lowdowner's topic in General Discussion
Tools for the job imo, when I depped I had a script-sheet for some songs on top of my amp as reminders. if I were depping unfamiliar material regularly then I wouldn`t have a problem with it, even though I do think it looks dreadful. Far better to look dreadful in a band than sound it. -
Looking for lightweight combo for onstage monitoring
Lozz196 replied to Keefaz's topic in Amps and Cabs
For this I`d look at a Markbass CMD121P. Tiny little box, bags of power, and a much bigger sound than would be expected. Pairs nicely with Sansamp as well. Yes you can go down the route of small Class D amp head and Barefaced One10 which is a good option, but you`ll then be getting into higher expense and more gear to set up. -

What cab would you add a Markbass cmd 151 jb players?
Lozz196 replied to Fulkram's topic in Amps and Cabs
I`d choose whichever Markbass 1x15 cab is the same size/footprint, unless they recommend a specific cab to go with that amp. Doubling up with the same is pretty much a safe bet, and usually sounds great. -
The GK MB range seems to get a lot of praise on Talkbass, might be worth checking out over there if you`ve not already done so.

Death-metallers need this bass
