I bought my first Sansamp there. On the subject of 80s basses I notice a lot of Arias on early 80s Top of The Pops re runs, John Taylor influenced I dare say.
I saw the title of this thread and dreaded opening it, as I understood Bruce had had some health issues recently.
Great bassist, one of my main inspirations to play bass, and a nice chap too - only met him the once, which was a real "we`re not worthy" moment for me, he could clearly see it and put me at ease, asking my opinions of the stage/sound/lighting etc of where we were playing.
Thanks Len, yes I think the photos are pretty accurate to the colour of the fretboard.
The bass is on hold at present but will update on the thread either way.
Never had that myself but should it happen I think a decent sticking plaster and try to avoid using said finger. If bass lines have to be simplified so be it, better to have a tight simple bass than an all over the place in pain one.
I think that’s a lot of it, many bassists/guitarists dream of finally owning their first actual Fender or Gibson. Makes sense to have an affordable starting point.

One of the above, that I’ve had refinished in black nitro.
Pics show where there are slight bits of wear, and the headstock where a previous owner looks to have tried to fit a string guide or something,
Nice little bass, weighs 3.6kg.
Collection/Meet Up Only
The only reverse P I’ve any experience of was hearing a Mark Hoppus Sig bass, to me it evened out the sound very nicely, as above lost low end flub on the E/A, and also beefed up the D/G.
Interestingly this was at a blind P-Bass shootout at the Herts Bass Bash some years back. Up against some heavyweight opposition (50s, 60s, 70s Precisions) the Hoppus was the runaway winner, bassists voting with their ears only.
Another good transaction with Nik, stopped off at mine to buy a wireless kit and we of course had a chat about all things bass. A sterling Basschatter, deal with confidence.
Many moons ago I was looking at a bass in one of the big names. I had a bass to trade so phoned them up as it was a fair distance to drive. The person that answered was so evasive as to offering any indication of trade in value.
In the end I got a little (more than a little) exasperated and said look, I know the resale value of my bass is xx pounds. If I bring it all the way to your shop and I’m offered half that I will hit the person over the head with it. Now, in possession of that knowledge would you advise I get in my car or stay at home. I was advised to stay at home.
I’ve nothing against being offered a low amount, and am perfectly aware that the final offer is dependent on condition, but it was the evasiveness and refusal to give any indication of a value that got me. To be honest if they’d come straight out with a sum that was half the resale value I’d probably have taken it, as it’s the evasiveness cost the a sale and a future profit on my trade in.
IMO all of the Tech21 pedals are plenty good for the job described. The one I used to use was their Para Driver, it has adjustable sweepable Mids so a fair bit more versatile than the others.
