  1. Positively screams “specialises in technical blackened death metal”.
  2. Two great looking basses there
  3. I think that as soon as it gets to the songs that they need their phones for I’d pack my gear up leaving my share of the fee up until that time, saying rehearsals are for rehearsing and not learning. Do it a couple of times and it might sink in, hitting peoples pockets often does.
  4. Centre stage for bass too, just how it should be
  5. Dazed & Confused by Led Zeppelin, it’s the middle bit on the A, the riff is easy enough but it just repeats for what seems ages and if it’s out with the drums it stands on like an extra proverbial on a boxer dog. I need my concentration on that one to be at max.
  6. I’ve got a potential new band, at a mates 40th birthday party last week a few of us were asked to do a few classic rock covers. We did a 45min set, went down really well and lots of the people there said they didn’t know we had a band. When we said we didn’t and that we’d only had 2 rehearsals (and only 1 with the drummer) they said we def should keep it going, so in all likelihood we will, just get Xmas out of the way. So we never know what’s round the corner or what opportunities will come our way. Gotta take them though.
  7. A couple of good calls there Paul, both health-wise and gear-wise.
  8. Yup, like those baseball caps with the peak at the back…..
  9. Avast ye, with your fiery cutlass
  10. Sorry to hear this Dave. Re the bass they are amazingly good - I have two and they are my gigging basses for my main band, play and sound great.
  11. I’ve a permanent shoulder injury, fortunately right shoulder so doesn’t affect where my strap sits. Up until a few years ago I could still shift a regular 410 about, however age has been catching up with me and this year I hurt my back at work which has made me go short scale. I’m fine carrying a short scale bass in a gigbag but heavy amp heads or pretty much any cabs save probably a BF110 is beyond me. So yes, short scale basses and Sansamp for gigs now rather than the Precisions and ABM600 this time last year.
  12. Yup, for years I’ve been a US Fender man, the US Precisions just worked best for me, mainly the necks. But then due to my back I got my JMJ Mustangs and I can’t really spot any difference in quality, the added bonus that the necks on them are just superb.
  13. Mexican Fenders are really upping their game aren’t they.
  14. Def gonna keep an eye on this thread, love Motown
  15. Whenever I’ve had a new nut I’ve chosen Graph Tech, not sure whether or not they do what you need but if they do they’d be my tip.
  16. For myself 100% agree, I like to be present for the whole process. For some people I’ve been in recording bands with however I’ve wished that they had done exactly that and left as soon as their parts were done.
  17. I’m similar but my Fender JMJ Mustang basses are pretty well done, if it wasn’t for the fact the wear on all three is pretty much identical it would def pass for genuine wear.
  18. My prejudices are: Basses that aren`t Fender (tho Squier acceptable) I like many other basses but for some reason I feel disloyal if considering them. I`m also not keen on basses unless they`re black, white or sunburst.
  19. That’s a very good point, especially if doing football-terrace type backing vocals altogether.
  20. We`ll never rise up, we stand at the back and try not to be noticed.
