  1. I`d happily pay someone to do the mid-mod on my BDI21, my soldering skills being non-existent.
  2. Marshall VBC412 my fave cab too @fretmeister. I left mine in the car all the time, was too big & heavy to move on my own, but I loved that cab, paired it with the Marshall DBS7400.
  3. As Swiss Toni would say, ply it with fine wines & Belgian chocolates.
  4. Works the other way too, we once played a pub that had changed hands and although the new landlord was honouring all the bookings it was clear he didn`t want any music in his pub, nothing done to promote the gig, stage area changed etc etc. Given he`d done nothing to draw in the locals after about 4 songs of us playing to no-one he asked us to take £100 and stop playing/go away.
  5. I find that it`s not quite as full-on as the Sansamp so I can coax a more natural amp sound from it. It`s a great sounding piece of kit irrespective of cost, but when you look at just how reasonably priced they are to me anyone gigging venues with FOH can`t make many better choices than taking one of these along as a just-in-case.
  6. If that was Alaska 127 whilst I think it`s an excellent album I`d get where the crowd were coming from, sure promote your new album by playing the lead tracks off it, that`s what bands do, but play mostly stuff the audience know.
  7. I saw The Vibrators do a set last night at The 100 Club at a memorial for their old bassist Pat Collier who sadly passed earlier this year. The usual gigging line-up only has Eddie the drummer from the originals, however due to the event Knox the singer also attended even though he`s not in particularly great health. Sounded great.
  8. Would be too hot after all these years 🤣
  9. I’d love to be in an AC/DC tribute band - tho for me it would be the Chris Slade on bass version given my shiny scalp.
  10. Yeah I use mine on a 3hr rehearsal with approx 30min break. I automatically charge it the night before rehearsals so never actually seen how long it takes to drain down.
  11. I use a Nux system, pretty much the same as the Boss WL-20 but the jacks are foldable so the unit can rest against the body of the bass (or against the side of an effects pedal). Works on 5.8 so no interference. I like it, comes with a nice little carry-box too.
  12. It`s a difficult one, I`ve not bought any items that haven`t been any good, but have bought some that I`ve sadly found don`t suit me due to my rickety body, rather than for their "goodness" as musical items. I refer to a rather stunning white/maple US Precision which I bought, at 8lbs-ish I thought I`d be ok with it but have found that as well as weight, the scale length is a big factor for me now. So that was def the worst. Best, a sub 8lb CIJ Fender Mustang Bass, great instrument and a weight I`m fine with at the moment.
  13. A law should be passed that all bassists carry one of these, excellent bits of kit at such a good price.
  14. Yep, anyone with a smattering of familiarity of Fenders looking at that shot of the rear of the head-stock would just go "nah", sadly someone may well end up falling for it.
  15. I use a Wenger rucksack to take my stuff to gigs. Plenty of compartments & pockets so it’s easy to keep things separated and not in a big jumbled mess.
  16. With my current band we manage up to about 10 a year, which is fine for me. None require too much travelling, 2hrs tops. I contrast that with my last band which averaged about 50 gigs a year, all over the country and Europe which was way too much for me. Every weekend seemed to be spent either on the M6 or in Easyjet. Was great fun but would never want to do it again.
  17. I’ll be willing to bet that stack sounds awesome
  18. It would be difficult to make it look any less like a Tonehammer, their designers must have worked really hard on that aspect……..
  19. No problems here @neepheid, life happens, won’t ruin my day, I’ve just chosen Fenders with thinner necks 😀
  20. Agree, musical credibility for me is playing well, if audiences enjoy what’s being played that adds more credibility.
  21. Sadly I now have arthritis in my left thumb so wide Precision necks are now beyond me too.
  22. The RH450 is a nice amp. There was a bit of hoo-ha re it’s claimed power being greater than what it actually puts out but having used a few they’re plenty loud. I don’t know about the BQ but I’d be happy to own and use an RH450 as a regular gigging amp.
  23. A very large percentage of my fave music has been played on Fenders, even more specifically on Fender Precisions. Probably why I love them so much. Still wish they do a regular one with reverse pickup tho.
