  1. That looks awesome
  2. I’ve not used any Blackstar gear but I have been at a gig where the backline was provided by them. The bass rig was the same as @peds above and it sounded really good. I knew the bands playing too, so could tell if the sounds obtained were what was wanted and the setup covered them all well.
  3. Ha, yes sat-nav invariably takes you to the other side of the wall - a case of so near yet so far.
  4. To me upgrades are things that make the instrument better, such as Hipshot tuners for stock Squier ones, or putting in higher quality pots and jack-plug on the electrics. Pickups can be subjective as one players better can be another players worse and different colour scratchplates, well that’s just different.
  5. Yep decent venue that
  6. I think of the Jazz bass as looking very cool. Prob down to a mate of mine who played a 70s Jazz in black/black with maple neck with blocks. Low slung it just looked the business.
  7. That’s my new approach. For years I’ve really dug in and played hard but over that period the hands have taken a battering so lighter strings, thinner pick, lower action from now on.
  8. He arranges all of his plants in steady rows of eight
  9. Great tones @thebrig, and great playing too, what’s the bass in the No More Heroes clip - Lakland of some sort?
  10. I don’t think she’s that keen on him…..
  11. Yeah agree, he still sounds like JJ by his playing style but that famous aggressive tone of the early years has gone.
  12. Congrats, you’re going to have to put some graft in but I’m sure it will be very rewarding
  13. Well as usual a great rehearsal. Took along a Precision for the first time in ages and although it hasn’t given either my back or arthritic thumb any problems I’ve found that in a band scenario I now prefer my Mustangs, whereas at home it’s still my fave Precision that gets the vote. Great, fave bass at home, light easy to play bass for band, sorted. And for those who laughed, am now gonna watch Eastenders!
  14. We’re rehearsing this evening, normally I really look forward to rehearsing but it’s the live Eastenders 40th Anniversary episode tonight.
  15. Mono M80 Guitar Double - it’s what I use for gigs with my 2 Mustangs.
  16. Good score, MIJ Fenders are great instruments
  17. In my last band we were regularly asked to pose with people for photos, sign merch/set-lists etc. All part & parcel of it I suppose but at 50 plus and being rather uninteresting (to put it mildly) I always felt a bit of a fraud doing this.
  18. Yeah music is music, there for all
  19. And don’t forget tort…..
  20. Good purchase that
  21. Nah, am still trying to master playing whilst awake 🤣
  22. Agree Chris, my bass tone in my last band was far from what I like but it was the right sound for both the music and the line up. Very important aspect that, the line up/instruments, if we’d had a second guitar that would have changed things a lot imo.
  23. Have def experienced that, at one soundcheck had a great on stage sound, went out front on the wireless kit and was boomy mush, adjusted to a horrible nasally sound on stage, beautifully defined full bass sound out front.
  24. I’d leave, wouldn’t put up with that
