  1. Mainly the radio in my house as a kid so whatever was in the Top 20 at the time. Given that - at the time they were happening- I liked 70s glam rock then punk then new wave I suppose it has influenced me.
  2. Same, to be honest when I got mine I didn’t even notice the lack of contours, it’s just so comfortable as it is.
  3. Agree. From what I’ve read the intentions were to keep it as true to the original as possible but sometimes I think it’s better to deviate a bit.
  4. I’d also check out @stevies LFSys cabs
  5. I’ve also got three of them and shielded them all, including under the scratchplate, it has made a difference so I’d recommend doing it.
  6. Sid bought a pedalboard & case from me, good comms & swift payment. As I was going to a gig near his place I dropped it off rather than post it, had a nice cuppa and a good chat about all things bass.
  7. I quite like it, think the slide guitar is very good.
  8. In that case the Ampeg Scrambler or the TCElectronic Spark Booster are worth checking out.
  9. Am looking to get a refin on a Squier Mustang bass (oly white to black). Given the bass was only £300 I’m not looking at a costly job, any recommendations peoples?
  10. Heard it earlier, quite like it and will def get the album when it comes out.
  11. Great sounds, love Stingrays when someone else is playing them.
  12. On Thursday I’m going to see The Professionals, the band that formed from The Sex Pistols in the late 70s. They split in early 80s and reformed some 7/8 years ago, only one original member, Paul Cook, the drummer. Now people could say that they shouldn’t bother - only one original member/in their 60s etc - but live they are simply amazing, last time I saw them (at the same venue I’ll see them on Thu, The Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes) was probably the best sound at a gig I’d ever heard.
  13. It certainly is when it comes to band fees 🙁
  14. Back in 2009 when I was in a covers band we used to get £250/£300 per gig. Fast forward to the start of this year when I was briefly in a covers band and the fees were the same.
  15. Just heard The Rollings Stones latest single Mess it Up, really good, that’s 2 songs off of the latest album that I’ve heard and like so think I’ll get the album.
  16. When I was using Markbass gear I contacted them directly a couple of times, can’t remember what about but do remember that they were very helpful and prompt In responding, may be worth a try.
  17. Same here tho only managed 2 gigs in the few months I’ve had mine, but similarly no problems with them at all, very easy to use and the dedicated case is very useful.
  18. Get the Player Plus as it’s the instrument you prefer, you can still get the traditional Precision sound from it by having it on passive mode and panning to the Precision pickup only.
  19. If it’s not too far away check the venue/PA/monitors out beforehand, if workable do the ampless thing.
  20. 58 in December, still gigging though have had to slow it down a bit from my more frantic gigging years. 10/15 a year more than enough for me now.
  21. Problem is that at the same time as petrol etc has gone up so it costs us more to do gigs, everything else has gone up so it costs venues more to run them. Coupled with less punters this makes getting more for gigs a challenge to say the least.
  22. I can see where you’re going Tim…. Its a mystery
