  1. Problem is that at the same time as petrol etc has gone up so it costs us more to do gigs, everything else has gone up so it costs venues more to run them. Coupled with less punters this makes getting more for gigs a challenge to say the least.
  2. I can see where you’re going Tim…. Its a mystery
  3. That’s (hopefully) a result Muzz, nice one
  4. Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders is of similar age and still sounds great in the original keys of her songs too.
  5. Awesome, thanks for the tip
  6. Just got in from a 5pm Spacewasters gig at The New Cross Inn, a 3 day psychobilly event. Went really well, good crowd, a few of whom said we’d been the best band of the 2 days so far. Put in a few new ones and also given it’s Halloween weekend did Bad Moon Rising. A def success plus home before 8pm, unheard of!
  7. Just watched it, I wonder if it was live as it was a very polished performance. Agree JT still killing it on bass.
  8. For me the beauty of the P is that it doesn’t have too much of anything so it’s very easy to sculpt into whatever’s needed - well apart from modern hi-fi sounds maybe.
  9. In my journey to find the smallest & lightest amount of gear to take to gigs am wondering if this might be a goer, having seen a pic of one and realising how small it is. My needs/wants are pretty simple, as below: DI to FOH PA for every gig Tuner A good sound akin to an SVT/Sansamp Same sound as above but with added drive but no added volume Would the HX Stomp be for me?
  10. The Ashdown is a nice little cab, sounds good and isn’t too boomy, easy to cart about.
  11. From the above I have deduced that I’m actually a guitarist who plays drums and does lead vocals
  12. I had mine in a Roqsolid cover and did tours with it in the back of the van etc, never any issues. Most of the gigs were with it in the back of an estate car, again no issues.
  13. My punky/garagey/psychobilly band The Spacewasters are at The New Cross Inn (London) on Saturday 28 Oct, 5pm. It’s part of a three day event, Psychobilly Freakout.
  14. In the last few years I`ve discovered that I`m better than what I thought I was, this realisation came when learning some classic rock basslines from bands such as Rainbow, Led Zep, Dio, Whitesnake, Kansas etc, stuff that five years ago I would have thought was way beyond me. I`ve always thought I was good at what I did (root note punky stuff) but thought my limitations were much lower than what they actually are.
  15. Too many to list but pretty much all by The Jam Eton Rifles, Down in The Tube Station, Town Called Malice, Pretty Green, It’s Too Bad to name but a few Edit - and New Years Day by U2, yes Adam Clayton riffing out for all the haters 🤣
  16. Not good, was a decent venue, saw a good few bands there and did a couple of gigs there too (one with Whitney from Eastenders on the door which confused a good few customers).
  17. Yep, I like the song but can`t stand The Pogues
  18. I think of a dark sound being something like a Gibson Thunderbird without much treble on the amp.
  19. I’ve got the white one and given I’ve decided it will be my gigging bass am going to get another. I wouldn’t gig with instruments I couldn’t get on with but these are great.

  22. I used my Squier CV Mustang Bass last night at rehearsal, with the tone backed off to about 60/70% it pretty much matches the tone of my JMJ Mustangs.
  23. Great rehearsal last night with my punky originals band The Spacewasters. We’ve a gig coming up next weekend so had to work on the set, not played these songs since the last gig at end of Aug aside from the ones we recorded for our new album in Sept. All sounded great, really tight. Aside from the drummer we were all using varying bits of new gear, for myself was my Squier CV Mustang Bass. Was using it as it’s white, the lead guitarist uses a white guitar live and I like the look of the two instruments at either side of the stage in matching colours and wanted to try it out before the gig. Anyway said CV was great and the Jazz width neck made it very comfortable to play. But the all important thing, it sounded great and really worked well with the band. So after this we messed around with a few daft covers just for fun - Addicted to Love, 9 to 5, Go Your Own Way, Bad Moon Rising amongst them. Given next weekend is Halloween weekend we’ll do Bad Moon Rising to keep in the spirit of things.
  24. For a while I had a pair of Ashdown RM210s, they were nice cabs and due to the cones being placed diagonally it reduced the width so they were much easier to cart about. This also helped on the height aspect as well. Sounded good though my only experience was using them with 4 string basses, no idea how they’d work with a fiver.
