I’ve found The Two! Fender 2015 US Standard Precision & Fender JMJ Mustang Bass. If I could only save one it would be the Precision as it has many sentimental memories but I can’t play full scale basses in bands anymore due to back issues hence putting the JMJ up there as well, I truly love these little basses.

Illness Has Stopped Me Gigging Temporarily

I had to quit a band earlier this year due to my back issues, being a covers band it meant carrying/setting up full backline & PA and I just can’t do that stuff anymore. Am ok with bass gigs as it means 1 bass and 1 Sansamp so easy enough. Similar to @paul_5 I’m also dealing with long Covid, nowhere near as bad but last weekend I had a gig on Fri eve and went for a curry Sun eve, took me til Thur to recover (I’m a non drinker btw so not like I went overboard on recreational grounds). I’m just hoping it doesn’t get any worse as would hate to have to leave my gigging band. -
For me it just had a more precise sound, still the same sound just more definition to it.

Shame when things like that happen, I remember the gigs you did with them, were really good

To find your feet on this so to speak a Zoom unit would be worth looking at, they’re pretty cheap, have many different effects and are pretty easy to use. From there you can find out if effects are your way forward or not (I depped once, got a load of different sounds as per the recorded tracks sorted and when I rehearsed with the band it sound disjointed so I settled in one decent sound).

I want to be in a band to make music, I don’t want to be booking things, sorting things out, doing this & that, just want to play & holler. This probably would come across as lazy and a lazy band member to me would set off alarm bells but in my defence I’m never late for gigs or rehearsals, always prepared on the material, gear & transport always works and am good with communication. But I seem lazy because I don’t want to do anything other than play & sing.

One of the best imo is Filthy Lucre by The Sex Pistols, recorded at their 1996 Finsbury Park reunion. Not as good as Never Mind The Bollocks but a great live album, and having attended the gig if there are any touch ups they’re minimal as what’s on CD is what I heard that day. -

I though Mad Donnas version of American Pie was pretty poor. -
On the few times when soundmen insisted on DI from my ABM600 rather than the Sansamp there were no issues with noise, other than the racket I made of course.

Up until they released Two Steps From The Move, All Those Wasted Years by Hanoi Rocks was by far their best album imo. -
If it gives the sound wanted (and getting that sound can’t be obtained with other lighter gear) you can afford it, and can lift it then go for it. From my experience TE gear does have a specific sound that I’ve ever really heard from other brands, if that’s the tonal goal then do it whilst you can. Sadly I’m no longer able to carry the gear I’d really like but am glad I had it when I was able to.

I always go from the Sansamp, just use whatever amp is there for my on-stage sound as find that it`s the different speaker cabs that really changes the eq needs .

Similar happened to us (Knock Off) when we played with a high profile back in the day band, their drummer fiddled and faffed around tuning the kit, our drummer getting more & more wound up as time went on. Then they started sound-checking and he said it was the best he`d ever heard the kit. We did say to him, of course, that it was nothing to do with the tuning and all to do with the player........

Yep, I gigged last Friday, was fully intending on going ampless with my Sansamp but my mate in the headlining band offered me the use of his ABM600, well it just had to be done, didn`t have it particularly loud as we`re not that loud a band but it was reassuringly solid.

Yep, Henry & the boys travel light to say the least, they bring guitar & bass, that`s about it.

Well there are a few rig rundowns on YouTube and Chris Shiflett def uses amps which appear to be on stage, plus Nate himself said in an interview about his gear that his band is loud so he needed his (at the time) Ashdown rig to keep up. Maybe they’ve changed but something tells me they’re live backline kind of guys.
