  1. I’ve never left a band on bad terms - or at least there haven’t been any in my part, I never asked any of the bands if there were on their part.
  2. If you want to be able to get a more precise sound then I’d say yes as the EVO4 just has that bit more in that area, probably due to the additional sliders.
  3. I think the first thing to identify is are the mistakes on the same songs each time, if so an easy answer to that, put a note/star/asterisk against them on your set list as a reminder of this. From there look at what/where/why it happens on those ones. If however it varies on songs then identifying the actual issue is likely going to be harder.
  4. Marshall VBC412 was one of the best cabs I ever had too @fretmeister
  5. I preferred the warmer more depth tones of the Yamaha
  6. I’m intending on going ampless for my gig on Fri. I am taking my amp head as an in-case but if the sound engineer is ok with it I’ll just be using my Sansamp.
  7. Good point there, should have included that I’m a pick player.
  8. The Fender Original to me had a spike in the upper mids that I just couldn’t get rid of, I couldn’t say what frequency but it was just there all the time. The Custom Shop 62 is bulkier in the low mids, prob around 400hz or so, a warm rich sounding pickup.
  9. Very good post Phil, I`ve had a few 210/115 set-ups and in every case to my ears the pair sounded better than each individual cab - the cabs were always from the same brand and range I should add. From there I found that yes better to have one cab I liked the sound of than two that individually lacked so went 412 initially then 410. When I needed a bit more than the 410 I added on a 210 though in all honesty I hardly ever needed this. Again I would only have same brand & range with these. They did sound great but for gigs that size more often than not there was a provided 810. The only other pairing that I did was Barefaced Compact & Midget with again the sum of both sounding better than each on their own.
  10. I bought a 77 in 2011 for £1200, and a 78 in 2012 for £1100, that was the going rate back then.
  11. They’re usually wider - 44mm as oppose to 42 - but shallower in depth.

    New band for me!

    Sounds really good
  13. Am happy to announce that The Spacewasters will be making our return, albeit with 7 legs now rather than 8, at The Black Heart in Camden, Fri 25 August. In no attendance will also be my old band Knock Off.
  14. Thanks @miles'tone, hope you get some progress on the health & back. As @Rosie C says walking is good, my osteopath advised it so I go to the gym a few times a week, 30mins on the treadmill only, nothing else and I’m feeling the improvement, def worth a try (but only if advised by whoever treats you of course).
  15. I’ve suffered this year, did my lower back in at work in Feb so it made a nice marriage with my permanent upper back/shoulder injury - not! I had to leave a band I was playing guitar in as the amount of gear & setting up was beyond me, especially leaning over to place cables & plug leads into amps/cabs etc. Decided to try short scale basses and they’ve enabled me to continue to play bass in bands. As well as being lighter due to the playing position the centre of gravity is different - more central to the core of the body - so I’m well pleased, my back still gives me grief but it’s getting better.
  16. Nice one @Clarky, they’re great basses, nice to see I’m not the only one sporting the white pearloid pickguard too (and similarly I also moved the tugbar to the lower position).
  17. I remember it well Oranjeboom Orangeboom it is a lager not a tune
  18. Very interested in this, I`ve got a Squier Classic Vibe Mustang as backup to my JMJ, trying to get the sound as near as possible, think I`ll see what Northern can do re this.
  19. Has a more Chinese Democracy vibe to me than their earlier material, that could be due to the vocals. I’ll give it a proper listen later on but first go on the iPhone I like it.
  20. Are you a mostly low fret player, if so it may well be that you’ve got a bit of fretwear on the lower frets, action set to suit those so when you venture further up the less worn frets are generating some buzz.
