  1. I`m going ampless due to back issues but the last few gigs I`ve done have been bass/lead/amp and I found it truly liberating not having to plug in & set up pedals/extra cables etc. Would be my preferred option but the back dictates my new approach.
  2. I`d go for the 600 every time, not tried the 300 but I found the 600 to be pretty much my ideal amp.
  3. I’ve watched your Andertons Sound Like vids Cici and it’s clear that you’re def very much a musician.
  4. I’ve recently switched to Mustangs and have accumulated three JMJs. Managed to find a US Performer in white and it was delivered today, sadly my impressions are the same, the JMJ is full of character where the Performer seems sterile and empty in comparison - I’m talking in feel more than sound wise - so sadly I’ll be returning it.
  5. Apparently there are different “batches” who do the tours, depending on availability and location of the tours. Have to admit they’re still very entertaining, am going to see them end of September with my Mum as she loves them.
  6. Sold One of the above, fits US Fenders, creates a better angle on the A string to stop pesky rattle, or tightens a low B string to help get better definition. £15 through your letterbox in the UK.
  7. Yep a bit of tape from the Dymo at work will sort it
  8. If the receiver unit ran on batteries I def would but I’m having to reduce the amount of leaning over amps & looking for plug sockets so sadly these aren’t right for me.
  9. I recently bought a set of the Nux 5.8s, used them at band practice last night and all good, only minus points are that the transmitter & receiver logos are too small for middle aged eyesight, and the pads to rest against the instrument body are on the wrong side, other than that all good. I daftly sold 2 wireless sets a few weeks back as wanted to go back to leads but our singer - who had half his leg cut off last year due to a motorcycle accident - bought one of the Shures and said he’d done so as he couldn’t afford to have leads around his prosthetic leg. This rattled around upstairs and thought I’d best re-enter the wireless world.
  10. I echo these sentiments, looks great
  11. Have to admit I’m tempted to try the short scale version of this.
  12. I used one of those at a gig, for on-stage volume it was plenty though I have to admit that my sound wasn`t particularly low-end heavy, maybe that was a factor in it working well for me.
  13. Def makes sense Paul, think of all those punchy bass lines that we all love in the mix, isolated there’s usually a fair bit of gain/drive on them, never heard as drive in the mix but really helps them have a presence.
  14. I`m fortunate that on my Mustang basses long scale strings are fine, possibly due to the string-thru maybe.
  15. Would lowering the action give a punchier sound?
  16. In the years before I understood anything about string gauges or set ups a band I was in tuned to D and it never caused any problems.
  17. For me the ideal was using my own amp with whatever cabs were provided, with my Sansamp in the line. The Sansamp DI`d to FOH so I knew audience getting what I wanted them to - assuming no desk-butchery - then as I was more familiar with how my amp worked I found it easier to eq to get a suitable onstage sound. But if relying on the amp for DI`d sound then hooking it to an unfamiliar cab, well too many variables in that for me, do you go for great onstage sound but no idea what audience are getting or stick with good audience sound but rotten onstage sound.
  18. I was in a band where 2 of us played bass, I took the more traditional bass role, the other bassist took a more Hooky approach. We also had drums, 3 guitars, keyboards and 2 singers so quite a lot going on.
  19. Def one advantage of wireless kits - walk out into the audience area and hear what is being done to the sound of the band.
  20. This definitely. I played a gig, DI from my Sansamp to FOH as usual, lots of top-end twang plus some drive when digging in. After the gig the soundguy said to me he had a nightmare with my bass sound trying to get it to sound like a proper bass, but by removing the top end and high mids he got it sounding like a regular P-bass. So I`d given him JJ Burnell, he gave the audience James Jamerson (I`m talking sounds here, not the playing btw). Doh!
  21. If the receiver unit in the Shure was battery powered I`d have one but due to my back I don`t want to be leaning over amps & cabs to find plug sockets as this really aggravates it. I redently decided to go back to cables so sold a couple of wireless kits but then our singer bought a Shure unit and said that given his situation - he had part of his leg cut off last year and now has a prosthetic leg - he can`t afford to have leads all over the place so I`ve bought one of the 5.8 NUX units as it seemed to be the most user friendly for my needs. It`s being delivered today and I have a rehearsal on Thu so I`ll report my findings.
  22. I started on a Kay short-scale bass (their EB-O copy). Now, after having been through many different basses over the years and settling on Fender Precisions for a long time I now, due to worsening back issues, am back on short-scale basses, this time Fender Mustangs.
  23. Have a good one at Rebellion, hope all goes great!
