  1. I’m with you Roger, Now Then is a great album.
  2. Anyone thinking about one of these should just jump at this opportunity, they are fantastic basses, I`m completely hooked (I also have 3).
  3. A compressor will help, stop the “pops” from really jumping out too much. If you’re not looking to add anything tonally the MXR M87, Keeley Bassist and Seymour Duncan Studio Compressor are all very clean sounding, all go for between £100 - £150 second hand.
  4. If Axl could still sing like he did when it was recorded I’d say Guns N Roses doing Appetite For Destruction.
  5. I rarely use the four fingers for four frets techniques but 3rd finger is probably the second most used one. I`d suggest doing exercises like across the fret-board starting at 1 & 3 on the E, work across the board then back, then go to 3 & 5 repeat the pattern, then 5 & 7 etc. You can then move on to fret 1 on E to fret 3 on A, 1 on D to 3 on G and repeat going up the board. This should build up strength, stretch and speed in the 3rd finger.
  6. That`s all you need, you`re as prepared as you can be, whether or not people like the material or not is their choice/likes but you know you`re going to deliver it properly.
  7. I’d have loved to have seen Darts back then. Apparently they’re still going but not sure how many originals still in the band now.
  8. Or just take off the B string maybe. But then this is Basschat, we should be encouraging you to buy a new bass!
  9. Really nice, lovely dark ‘board
  10. Looks great, lovely minty green scratchplate
  11. Great basses to play, look and sound awesome. Pain to cart around as cases are huge, and neck dive can be quite severe. If wanting a real thud with pick playing a Tbird is a good choice.
  12. They’re pointless for me as I have no need of what they offer for my playing needs. If I needed the lower notes or the songs were such that moving across the neck was easier/better than up then they would be very pointiful (I think I’ve just made that word up btw).
  13. it’s certainly a challenge getting that one nailed.
  14. Being mainly in originals bands this is something I’ve not really had too much, at times we were asked for obscure album tracks that we’d never played live so not really doable if asked mid-set, though if asked beforehand we’d sometimes give it a go.
  15. In the punk band I was briefly playing guitar for we had a drunk lady continually shouting for some Irish music. So we said we’d play some for her, cue Suspect Device by SLF.
  16. I only change basslines for three reasons: I’m unable to establish what the exact line is in the first place so will play my interpretation. If doing vocals at same time and the line is too complicated to play whilst singing so I’ll simplify. I’m simply not good enough to play it, so again I’ll simplify.
  17. A few years back I had - at separate times - two Squier VM77 Jazz basses. The second was a good bass whereas the first was outstanding, it just felt so “right” when playing it.
  18. I’m pretty much there with the Fender JMJ Mustangs, would be great if they did one in road-worn Olympic white.
  19. I use Fender Professional cables, pretty decent, my main one I’ve had since around 2018 and it’s still going strong.
  20. Looks great, only ever played one Sire bass, albeit very briefly, but I was impressed at how playable it was.
  21. Thanks @ped, did think the pickup must have been slightly more forward as imo the Mustang sound is somewhere between that of the Precision & Jazz.
