  1. I think in this case I’d get a new nut and have the BEAD where the EADG strings would normally be, simply as they’d be easier to reach on the neck.
  2. As all of my gigs are through FOH from now on I’m just using my Sansamp. If there’s a provided amp then I’ll plug into that, if not then it’s bass through the monitors. Not the preference of my ears, but of my back.
  3. Congrats, I’ve been looking at these for a while, get lots of good write ups.
  4. First thing I did when I moved into my place was tell my neighbours that I’m a musician, that I practice at home but never before 10am and never after 9pm, and that at any point if it’s too loud just knock and ask me to turn down, it won’t offend or annoy me. Probably helps that I practice at regular TV volumes but they’ve never asked me to stop.
  5. Have you tried pushing the Mute switch in/out, just in case that`s sticking? If it`s not that give Ashdown a call, Dave Green is pretty good at determining faults by what`s described to him.
  6. Not tried to work Kid out but Back On The Chaingang is def one of my faves to play.
  7. Adding in the same cab again and keeping all eq the same in most cases sounds like a big addition on low end in my experience, as quite simply it’s doubling the sound. It makes it twice as big so it seems that there’s more low end.
  8. Not sure about now but my last band (I left 3 years ago) used to sell a lot of CDs. I suppose it can depend on genre and age of the associated fan base.
  9. In my last band we charged £8, dunno if price has gone up as I left 3 years ago. We used to sell a fair bit, and even back when we started in 2014 there were bands selling theirs at £10 or more. I always thought less than a tenner, it’s that subliminal message of getting change from a note, even if it’s only £1.
  10. Well as long as you can def get the case in the cabin then I’d go Mono M80 Double. They’re not that much bigger than the single version, very good protection. If you need storage for pedals you can get a Tick to attach to it, put that in with your regular luggage til time for the gigs.
  11. Sadly it has to go, although this rig is far from heavyweight I need less & lighter still
  12. Pump it Up is one of the best bass lines to play, really enjoyable and a great groove
  13. Michael Poulsen of Volbeat has a pretty impressive vocal ability.
  14. My only thoughts are that I have several Precisions and that all the ones with maple fretboards sound brighter than their rosewood colleagues. They’re all strung with the same strings, and most of them are the same range (2013-16) so have same dimensions, hardware, pickups, electrics. Same goes for my two Jazzes, maple being toppier. Now would I be able to differentiate this in a mix stating maple or rosewood, no, not a chance. But play me a tape of me playing one type then another and I’d be able to tell which one was which. Doubt I’d be able to do it with another players basses.
  15. I used to use 50-110 for standard E tuning so I’m sure they’ll be ok. The Sixxster isn’t known for flashy all over the place basslines anyway so he’s probably not that worried about tension.
  16. Nothing so exotic I’m afraid, one for gigging, one for home use (and as a backup to the gigger).
  17. Whichever one is lighter will be gigged so will keep the white, the home use one will indeed get a black scratchplate.
  18. Def as Matt says above, Hiscox. As well as offering the most protection aside from super-duper expensive flight cases, being shaped rather than oblong they are much easier to cart about. I’ve used my Hiscox cases for flying gigs and never had a worry about the safety of the bass inside.
