In my last band we charged £8, dunno if price has gone up as I left 3 years ago. We used to sell a fair bit, and even back when we started in 2014 there were bands selling theirs at £10 or more. I always thought less than a tenner, it’s that subliminal message of getting change from a note, even if it’s only £1.

Well as long as you can def get the case in the cabin then I’d go Mono M80 Double. They’re not that much bigger than the single version, very good protection. If you need storage for pedals you can get a Tick to attach to it, put that in with your regular luggage til time for the gigs.

Pump it Up is one of the best bass lines to play, really enjoyable and a great groove -
Michael Poulsen of Volbeat has a pretty impressive vocal ability.

My only thoughts are that I have several Precisions and that all the ones with maple fretboards sound brighter than their rosewood colleagues. They’re all strung with the same strings, and most of them are the same range (2013-16) so have same dimensions, hardware, pickups, electrics. Same goes for my two Jazzes, maple being toppier. Now would I be able to differentiate this in a mix stating maple or rosewood, no, not a chance. But play me a tape of me playing one type then another and I’d be able to tell which one was which. Doubt I’d be able to do it with another players basses.

I used to use 50-110 for standard E tuning so I’m sure they’ll be ok. The Sixxster isn’t known for flashy all over the place basslines anyway so he’s probably not that worried about tension.

Nothing so exotic I’m afraid, one for gigging, one for home use (and as a backup to the gigger). -

Whichever one is lighter will be gigged so will keep the white, the home use one will indeed get a black scratchplate. -

2nd JMJ Mustang bass incoming…. -
Def as Matt says above, Hiscox. As well as offering the most protection aside from super-duper expensive flight cases, being shaped rather than oblong they are much easier to cart about. I’ve used my Hiscox cases for flying gigs and never had a worry about the safety of the bass inside.

This is the reason why the classic rock band I`m in could never gig, the drummers kit is pretty much bigger than every pub-sized venues stage area that I`ve played in covers bands. Add to that bass, guitar and keys and we`d take up a fair bit of room.

Sorry, re-reading that I didn`t put it brilliantly, I meant The 100 Club has history but is still only a regular 400 capacity venue. Still, plenty of history for Rock City too, one of my fave live albums, All Those Wasted Years by Hanoi Rocks was recorded there, one of the main reasons why I was so pleased to get the opportunity to play there (and which also really irritated a friend of mine, whose opinion was "only real bands play there").

I think it’s the “name” and the association, similar to The 100 Club. Always good gigs there but at the end of the day it’s a 400 capacity venue much the same as many others, albeit with loads of history.

Band interaction has left me thinking whats the point....

There is a certain amount of exposure going on imo, it’s exposing those for what they are. I’d be out of there asap. -
Guitarists... why are they such knackers
Lozz196 replied to spacecowboy's topic in General Discussion
Guitarists haven’t been a problem in every band I’ve been in. But in every band I’ve been in that has had a problem it’s been the (lead) guitarist. My theory is that they simply can’t handle being “number 2” as no matter how good they can play the focus is on the singer. This fries their fragile minds/egos so they become difficult in order to be the focal point. -
I have done it before, at the time it wasn’t my preference as getting levels in monitors for the rest of the band was tricky (as in they were awkward) but now I feel that needs must, my back is going to dictate this direction. I’ve got a pedalboard amp for gigs where there’s a provided cab, for gigs where there won’t be a provided rig I’ll do the ampless thing from now on.
