  1. I got one - a Palmer I think - from Gear4Music
  2. This is the reason why the classic rock band I`m in could never gig, the drummers kit is pretty much bigger than every pub-sized venues stage area that I`ve played in covers bands. Add to that bass, guitar and keys and we`d take up a fair bit of room.
  3. Sorry, re-reading that I didn`t put it brilliantly, I meant The 100 Club has history but is still only a regular 400 capacity venue. Still, plenty of history for Rock City too, one of my fave live albums, All Those Wasted Years by Hanoi Rocks was recorded there, one of the main reasons why I was so pleased to get the opportunity to play there (and which also really irritated a friend of mine, whose opinion was "only real bands play there").
  4. I think it’s the “name” and the association, similar to The 100 Club. Always good gigs there but at the end of the day it’s a 400 capacity venue much the same as many others, albeit with loads of history.
  5. There is a certain amount of exposure going on imo, it’s exposing those for what they are. I’d be out of there asap.
  6. Guitarists haven’t been a problem in every band I’ve been in. But in every band I’ve been in that has had a problem it’s been the (lead) guitarist. My theory is that they simply can’t handle being “number 2” as no matter how good they can play the focus is on the singer. This fries their fragile minds/egos so they become difficult in order to be the focal point.
  7. I have done it before, at the time it wasn’t my preference as getting levels in monitors for the rest of the band was tricky (as in they were awkward) but now I feel that needs must, my back is going to dictate this direction. I’ve got a pedalboard amp for gigs where there’s a provided cab, for gigs where there won’t be a provided rig I’ll do the ampless thing from now on.
  8. I have to admit I’m seriously considering this route too. All my gigs have FOH & stage monitoring so I’m finding more & more reasons to get in on this.
  9. Must admit I’m thinking of the ampless route as well. All my gigs go FOH and all the stages have monitors so am looking into this and at the successes the various members on here have with this.
  10. I found they had a fairly big top-end roll-off, get a good biting on stage sound and what came through the DI to FOH had considerably more highs. Maybe the intention there was to make things easier when using the DI and not have too much low end going to FOH? But whatever the theory I’m in agreement, they have a very good in the mix sound.
  11. Buy 10 then send 5 back & get a refund for £4.59, they’ll have paid you 10p for the pleasure
  12. Watching a thrilling snooker world tournament semi final, both players really pulling some shots out of the bag in this.
  13. My first performance was at 16 playing bass for the school orchestra on the annual Xmas play. Only played on a few numbers tho as had only been playing for a year and had only learned Sex Pistols songs so wasn’t that proficient at orchestra type music.
  14. Having been to The London Bass Guitar Show I’m surprised there are any angels left the amount of that that goes on there!
  15. I hope my awareness of my own limitations stops this happening to me. I really do……
  16. That’s a pretty awesome bunch @Rayman, many of a certain generation would have been very starstruck there, including me.
  17. I used Markbass gear for a few years because of this. Seemed whenever I went to see a band play and like the sound it was a Markbass rig the bassist was using, sounded especially great with Fender basses imo. Only moved on as needed some gain/drive.
