  1. Of the ones I checked out I like: Dave Hope (Kansas) Mike Mills (REM) Tony Butler (Big Country) Nate Mendel (Foo Fighters) my fave But the one that stood out for me was John Taylor (Duran Duran) as his tone sounded pretty much the same isolated as in the mix whereas most of the others sounded a fair bit treblier & “rattier” than would be expected.
  2. Good question, I’d be very interested in that too
  3. Are they the SubZero ones from Gear4Music Baz, if so you’ll have no problems, they’re decent little bits of kit.
  4. As per BigRedXs post above, in my last band the singer did all the online stuff and similarly we ended up with so much work we had to turn a lot down. Having someone in the band who is like that and prepared to do all that work is a major step forward.
  5. Is a mod dwarf Small Weller?
  6. Sold Ashdown ABM600 EVO IV with Roqsolid cover. Bought brand new, only been used about 10 times. £475, cash on collection preferred. No shipping but am willing to meet halfway within a reasonable distance.
  7. I used the BOSS WL20 for a couple of years, was great so I’d expect the same of the WL50.
  8. Not my kind of thing but the tone does fit that music style perfectly
  9. Yup, JMJ Mustang is a great bass, it’s made my playing life a lot easier and it plays/sounds great, especially with rounds - tho it was nice with Chromes too. I can’t say enough positive things about it.
  10. Putting something on to tighten the string helps too, I put a stealth retainer on the B on my 5-string US Precision and it tightened the string/sound nicely.
  11. How did the Elf handle it @BillyBass, am thinking of getting one myself - all my gigs the instruments go FOH so it would only be for onstage volume, but similar music style yo yourself.
  12. Overdone it on the Jack Daniels….
  13. Elixirs are very smooth feeling so may well fit the bill,
  14. We used a different rehearsal room last night, the premium room, and instead of a looking-very-sorry-for-itself Ampeg 810 there was what looked like a gleaming brand new one - premium room v budget room I suppose. Anyway it was a joy to use, though given I set the eq for the sorry 810s it took a while to adjust for the gleaming, especially as I`m now using my JMJ Mustang which eqs differently to my Precisions. But I got there and it was great, a nice solid wall of bass, each note clearly defined but an overall massive presence.
  15. Same for me, if the person the other side of the room has a sharp voice but the person I’m talking to has a warm voice my hearing focuses on the sharp sound.
  16. Definitely. I do everything at work via e-mail, mostly so I can prove what I’ve asked for/agreed, but in the main it’s because my memory is bad, much easier to know where everything is in my folders than trying to access my brain for info.
  17. Same for me Dave, first thing I did after getting home from seeing Petes band was order a couple of ELO CDs.
  18. I was going to try and get to the Wycombe show Pete, sadly couldn’t make it as was on call for work, glad it went well.
  19. I use a Mono Guitar M80 for my short scale JMJ Mustang so maybe one of these would work for a headless bass.
  20. Ashdown RM500. Similar warm sound, though a more versatile eq. UK based with excellent customer service.
  21. It looks like the BT7 to me - and the info on Bassdirect says the BT7 fits Sandberg California models. Given that Hipshot are pretty decent on customer service why not message them and ask which model it is.
  22. Good call, I had a similar issue in a hybrid amp a few years back and reseating the valve sorted it.
  23. And underrated Oh no, I said it again 🫢
