  1. Same for me, if the person the other side of the room has a sharp voice but the person I’m talking to has a warm voice my hearing focuses on the sharp sound.
  2. Definitely. I do everything at work via e-mail, mostly so I can prove what I’ve asked for/agreed, but in the main it’s because my memory is bad, much easier to know where everything is in my folders than trying to access my brain for info.
  3. Same for me Dave, first thing I did after getting home from seeing Petes band was order a couple of ELO CDs.
  4. I was going to try and get to the Wycombe show Pete, sadly couldn’t make it as was on call for work, glad it went well.
  5. I use a Mono Guitar M80 for my short scale JMJ Mustang so maybe one of these would work for a headless bass.
  6. Ashdown RM500. Similar warm sound, though a more versatile eq. UK based with excellent customer service.
  7. It looks like the BT7 to me - and the info on Bassdirect says the BT7 fits Sandberg California models. Given that Hipshot are pretty decent on customer service why not message them and ask which model it is.
  8. Good call, I had a similar issue in a hybrid amp a few years back and reseating the valve sorted it.
  9. And underrated Oh no, I said it again 🫢
  10. TC Spark Booster is good for this, it has a selectable Mid boost so as well as being able to boost the volume as required you add in extra mids at the same time, ideal for bringing up the bass for a solo.
  11. Don’t forget flares, a pair of Lionels (Lionel Blair)
  12. Something similar to that, Dread Zeppelin a good few years back did Led Zep songs reggae style with Elvis type vocals. Was interesting......
  13. Posts like this are definitely underrated
  14. Very Stingray sounding, maybe ‘Ray experts could hear a difference but I can’t.
  15. So, just got in from rehearsal with my other band and again this little bass has both impressed and delivered. Sounded great in the mix (tho it’s still taking a bit of getting used to not hearing a Precision sound coming from my hands) and again much less fatigue on my back & shoulders afterwards. My only concern is how long I can hold out only having just one……..
  16. Yep Bass Bros has a good reputation, but given how many scammers there are out there it’s always wise to do a bit of research such as this.
  17. I’ve not but I’m local, it’s less than a Mike away from me, and Steve the guy who does the sound is a mate of mine.
  18. Sounds good, agree Clint is doing a great job with Friars, which band are you in @Combed20?
  19. Chilling before heading out for a 2pm rehearsal.
  20. Hmmm, food for thought, I def preferred the Origin. I suppose there’s a lot of eq possibilities that can be explored on the Ampeg but to me it just seemed that the Origin fitted in with the mix much better every time.
  21. I don’t know if it’s specifically his sound that I like, but it’s definitely his playing.
  22. I’ve pretty much always done backing vox. Luckily in the music I do it’s generally quite easy but I have found that if the bass and the vocals are doing cross melodies then it’s time to make a choice, and for me it’s what’s more important to the song, keeping the bassline as written or dumbing it down to add backing vox. Usually I’ll go with the vocals as to be honest that’s what audiences listen to most, and plenty of backing vox on a chorus really lift it imo.
  23. Spot on Tim, I read in a book about SLF that a video director wanted to shoot a certain type of film for their song as he thought it was about the end of a relationship. The song was about the collapse of the Iron Curtain and the end of the Cold War. Just shows how people can get the wrong idea.
  24. Thanks chaps, much appreciated. Luckily I can still rehearse easy enough as all the gear is in the rehearsal studio, just a case of turning up & plugging in so not stopping playing, can still keep my hand in that way so to speak.
