  1. For years it’s been Dunlop D-38 DD straps but acknowledgement of the worsening back means from now on I’m sticking with a Mono GS1 Betty.
  2. I’m on my - I think - third one of these. I’ve realised that I don’t like compression in the band (which more than likely means I just can’t set it properly) but that it really helps for home rehearsal and learning new material, especially more precise stuff. And from having had many different types of compressors I’ve found that the M87 is the one I can get the best results from.
  3. The band name I’m most fond of was The Gorgeous Heroes. It was a glam-sleaze rock band. Sadly some in the band started to believe that they were gorgeously heroic, completely missing the irony.
  4. If wanting to add in some drive for certain songs only then many of the preamps on the market won’t be suitable. For one many don’t have selectable gain, just a gain control and when this is turned up the volume goes up too. For some others, Aguilar Tonehammer for example although the gain is selectable separately it really jumps the volume. For these reasons I use the Ampeg SCR-DI, separate gain which can be added in when desired at no extra volume.
  5. Apparently that was the idea when they set up the band.
  6. I use a compressor at home to learn new material, I’ve found it to be very useful for that, especially on more the precise material. Not keen on them in a live setting though.
  7. Valium Sloth might be worth putting in the bank as well Loz
  8. Band 1 - The Spacewasters. Originals psychobilly type punk. I am the basswaster. Band 2 - The Dogmattics. Classic punk covers. Band 3 - Thunderkunt. Classic rock (but instrumental only, no singer, no gigs).
  9. Yep, used Hiscox cases for years with my Precisions and not too heavy to cart about.
  10. As you really like that particular instrument try & get a further reduction, no guarantee that another of the same model will feel/play as nice.
  11. Yep, you can criticise their curtains and they don’t even blink an eyelid
  12. It really is a different country with a different language 🤣
  13. My back has been bad for years, permanent injury on right shoulder so doesn’t affect mobility too much, and bass on strap isn’t a bother. But it’s been bad over the last couple of months where I’ve annoyed it at work by lifting something, so have been seeing an osteopath. It’s not fixed yet but best I’ve felt for a while. I gigged a couple of weeks back on guitar and wasn’t too bad, fortunately my gear is small/light/modular so can do it all in many trips one handed.
  14. This has been my conclusion every time I’ve tried out a different type of bass. I just end up trying to make it sound how I want it to, which is like a PBass.
  15. It is for me, maybe not quite so for yourself or others.
  16. Sadly I’ve not got the money to buy it @miles'tone as it’s probably my dream bass as well (as am a 65-er).
  17. In my last band all monies went into the band accounts, thus enabling us to buy more merch, pay for flights/ferries/hotels/recording costs.
  18. In my view everyone gets equal unless there`s a specific reason for this not to happen. I think the way @Burns-bass is doing it is the right way.
  19. In 2015 the headliner on the last night was The Sweet Was a very surreal experience seeing punks & skins line dancing to Wig Wam Bam
  20. I thought I`d heard somewhere that you guys had split, Joey, am really pleased to find out that isn`t the case. Say hello to the chaps for me.
  21. First time I ever saw a Thunderbird being played was by Sami Yaffa of Hanoi Rocks, just looked so exotic in comparison to the Fenders & Rickenbackers I’d seen when growing up.
  22. For me whether it’s a formula, an emotion or a whatever I just concentrate on one question, do I like the music. And I do. Punk for me was always about exciting sounding music, the “movement” and anti establishment stuff passed me by, but the clothes & music, great.
  23. It looks like a robot from 1970s Dr Who!
  24. Don`t think I`ll be going unless my band manage to get on - we were in discussions but have had a brief pause due to health of one of the guys so don`t think we`ll get on this year.
