  1. I suppose because I use Precisions, which have an abundance of mids, I have the opposite problem and have to cut mine so that the bass doesn’t just put too far in the mix.
  2. That may well have been my downfall then……
  3. Jazz bass played with fingers in rock definitely, John Paul Jones immediately springs to mind.
  4. It’s a shame but sadly the bad actions of one employee often impact on companies as a whole. The reality is the poor actions are reflecting the individual and their attitudes but the employer is generally the one that takes the heat.
  5. If wanting to keep with Markbass I think I`d look at the 104HR. A 410 that handles 800 watts (well that`s the advertised spec). I had one, with the 500 watt version of the LMT and it sounded great, plus at 22kg easy enough to move about. You could get the 4ohm version to get max power from the amp but the more-clued-up-guys-on-here-than-me will advise that there won`t be that much difference in volume between the 8ohm and 4ohm versions of the same cab, but adding an additional 8ohm 410 cab to an existing 8ohm 410 cab if necessary down the line would make a huge difference (and look great too). So maybe the 8ohm version would be the better purchase.
  6. Our rehearsal room has these now instead of their previous Ampeg SVT450s. I`ve used these Peaveys a few times and not been that impressed however last night for some reason I happened on a sound that was really good, sounded a bit GK-like being crisp and clear but with good defined low-end, I was impressed, helped make the band sound great. I`m not going to look at buying one as I love my Ashdown amps but I suppose the moral of this story is that sometimes a good sound is in there somewhere, you just have to persist/work at finding it.
  7. The full-fat Ashdown ABM cabs will undoubtedly sound better. Sadly for me they’re no longer an option so I have the PRO NEOs (2 x 210). At home volumes they sound very similar to my old ABM410, on which I had the port sealed. Even sadder is that I’m yet to use them, both rehearsal rooms I use have provided rigs, and the gigs I’ve done since owning them have been similar.
  8. Definitely, the Custom Shop pickups on these are amazing.
  9. No hair No hat Well at least for gigging that is. In the cold weather it’s either a beanie hat or a fur Cossack/trapper style hat.
  10. Def the best range Fender have made, and a great price too!
  11. Definitely, can even add in - if an originals band - competing with yourself to write better material on an ongoing basis.
  12. If it’s working at £110 that would be a bargain, at a tenner, well that’s just daft!
  13. Yes it sounded very nice. Was at a gig so only had gig-sound experience but really nice cab.
  14. If you like your Ashdowns why not get one of their 610s or 810s? From the cabs mentioned I’ve used Ampeg 610HLF and it was a really nice cab, same with the Fender 810 NEO, and of course the Ampeg 810, but having also helped move one I would never want one.
  15. Yes a well known venue that, Dave, have had many a good night over there.
  16. It`s always amazing when that happens isn`t it Mart, sounds similar to a local venue to me, The Wheatsheaf in Leighton Buzzard. At 21:25 there`s no-one in there, band on at 21:30 and it`s rammed.
  17. Yep, been going on for a very long time, certainly most of the time since I’ve been on Basschat so well over 10 years
  18. The NY121 is the same size as the CMD121P so they match perfectly - and sound great as well.
  19. She certainly puts the effort in, great attack on the drum sounds.
  20. The Ampeg SCR-DI is nice, it’s pretty much the only preamp/DI pedal I’ve had where increasing the low end doesn’t result in major boom. The option of adding in (in my case a small touch of) drive without changing the volume is nice as well.
  21. Just watched a really good prog about Alanis Morissette on Sky Arts, a (recorded) live concert of hers due on now.
  22. I always thought that Sami Yaffa of Hanoi Rocks sounded better with his Thunderbirds than with his Jazzes.
