  1. Yep that was the same for me when in Knock Off, seems like the punkers are more likely to want autographs & pics then.
  2. From what I’ve heard it seems that this years Resolution at The 100 Club has been excellent all round.
  3. Plenty of times in my last band, and posing for pics etc. Given I was late 40s/early 50s it seemed a bit strange but it’s just part of the whole music thing on the original’s circuit.
  4. Keep it in house and get a couple of the Ashdown RM heads. Plenty of power, great sound, lightweight & portable, plus any issues UK based so easy to sort.
  5. I bought a bass (and case) that both had a bit of a niff, think it was eau-de-dog. I first off put neutrodol air fresheners in the case, and just used regular guitar polish to eliminate the smells on the bass. The case took longer, in the end it was febreeze that did it.
  6. I’d use the TE, though I do appreciate that anyone using an amp that’s unfamiliar can often not enjoy the gig as much as if they’ve got their own sound. That’s why I have a Sansamp - I can pretty much get the sound I want through that, from then in it’s just finding where/if the provided amps flat setting is.
  7. Hanoi Rocks live album All Those Wasted Years takes me back to the summer of ‘86 when it was seldom off of my car stereo.
  8. On my US Fenders I add a Stealth Retainer on the A string (supports a better nut to tuner angle) and a Hipshot Xtender drop-D tuner.
  9. Yes they had Ashdown amps on the introducing stage when I played there - tho at the punk weekender. It’s what switched me to Ashdown, I just loved the solidity of the sound it in combination with my Para Driver, there was the H-word to the sound.
  10. I bought a 78 Precision off of my then bands producer. We were recording at his studio so as I was buying it from him I decided I would use my new bass on the day I got it. Well the set up was quite poor to say the least, and the round wound strings on it sounded much like a set of 20 year old flats, no life in them at all. But it sounded great on those recordings, just how does that happen!
  11. For what’s needed I’d be all over this:
  12. I`d love a reverse P Precision, in the past I`ve used 50-105 strings but Elixir have stopped making them now.
  13. Highway Star for me. I’m not familiar with much of their material but we do this in my classic rock band and I just love playing the bassline.
  14. I have to do this on my Precisions, the D & G being noticeably twangier due to both thinness of string and pickup placement.
  15. There is/was a Fender Precision 5-er on here with added MM pickup.
  16. Yeah I’ve gigged on lead guitar before, ironically some 25 years ago doing punk covers with the singer/guitarist of this new band. But I’ve still got to learn many of the solos and some of the songs themselves hence me saying still gotta learn how to play.
  17. Well an update to this, I’ve now got my gear sorted - tho not yet delivered - for this. Fender Telecaster Deluxe Squier Telecaster Deluxe BluGuitar Amp1 (3lbs) 2 x Marshall 1912 (1x12 @ 13kg) TC Spark Booster (for solos) The BluGuitar Amp1 really sounds like a Marshall so I’ve a nice portable modular set up to use that will give the sound I want. Still gotta learn to play tho….
  18. He certainly is good, irrespective of whether people like The Beatles there’s no doubting Maccas abilities.
  19. I’m of the firm belief that many musicians try to second guess their audience - if we do xxxx it might not go down well so we should stick with our 30 year old set list. No, no, no. Do it then establish if it goes down well or not. Might doesn’t come into it. Often I think that they use this as an excuse for not doing material others want and as such are exercising this as a way of control, or as an excuse for just being lazy and not wanting to learn new material.
  20. I really like the Custom Shop 60s ones that come in my US Standard.
