My faves are the 2013-16 Fender US Standards.

I’ve had the Vertigo and the M80 and I find the M80 better for my needs. The straps can be folded away and I can still load the bass in whilst it’s standing up.

What has a professional bassist got, that I have not
Lozz196 replied to bass_dinger's topic in General Discussion
Whilst in my last band we weren`t professional it didn`t stop us behaving professionally. I`m convinced a lot of the work that we got owed much to the fact that we were easy to work with and behaved in this manner. A certain type of irony given we were a punk band I suppose. -
Recommendation for lightweight amp/cab/combo for carrying on buses/trains?

I’m surprised your arms don’t resemble a gibbons after doing that! -
NBD! Fender AV ‘63 Reissue Precision Bass. Edit: it has one issue.

They make a huge difference @Muppet -
A girl at work bought something online, and had it delivered to her Mums house. Sunday 19:10 she gets an e-mail saying it was delivered, with a photo of it propped up against the bushes (which she thought was a bit strange as her parents were in). She rang her Mum so she could bring it inside. Said Mum went outside, it wasn`t there, so she rang her daughter to say so. The daughter said it was definitely there the photo clearly showed it. The Mum looked at the CCTV and indeed at 19:10 the driver placed it against the bushes and took the photo proving delivery. The CCTV also showed that at 19:15 the driver returned to the parcel, picked it up and walked off with it. Moral of story, don`t accept photos as proof that an item has been delivered, this is a scam we`re hearing more of.

From what I’ve seen of professional musicians for one def the ability to get on with people and be easy to work with, the others are hard working and just being fortunate. There are plenty of people out there who are just as good to on with, can play just as good and who have good gear. The trick is finding a whole band made up of such individuals and very importantly having something to offer. -

Markbass CMD121P, nice little combo that punches way above its weight. I used to use mine on its own in a band with 2 basses, 3 gtrs, keys and drums and it was plenty loud enough. And there’s the option of adding in a matching extension cab - NY122 - if ever needed. -
Backup Needed - Copy Or Different Flavour?
Lozz196 replied to spongebob's topic in General Discussion
Like this Tim, a question about purchasing 1 bass evolving into 3 basses being needed, a proper Basschat response, you deserve promotion! -
I did, and I did like it a lot. I’d need to play one with a band to make the decision but in theory they tick all boxes - well apart from black/black/P-width maple that is. But I do like the all black/rosewood look so not a dealbreaker by any means.
-
I keep looking at Mustangs and wondering whether they might be a better fit for my aging & knackered body. I love my black/black/maple Precisions so much but just think maybe for band work the Mustang might be more practical.

Backup Needed - Copy Or Different Flavour?
Lozz196 replied to spongebob's topic in General Discussion
That’s the main reason why I just have the same as backup, any issues unplug/plug in, carry on. Too much other stuff going on at gigs to have to sort levels and eq as well as swap instruments. -
Backup Needed - Copy Or Different Flavour?
Lozz196 replied to spongebob's topic in General Discussion
I’m of the ‘backup is same as main’ mind frame. Admittedly it’s a lesser version, so US for main, Mex for backup. That said when I was doing overseas tours it would be two US that I’d take. I even go to the lengths of the same colour scheme but that’s more down to my ocd than anything else. -
Luckily Rosie is one of the songs I don’t have to prioritise. Phew!!
-
Just part 2 fortunately. Have to admit once I get a bit settled - and once I’ve learned it - I’ll push to add part 1 in as well.
-
I’ll have to come along once you start gigging
-
What band is that?
-
Some pretty good ones, and some unexpected
-
Well chaps, seeing as I may be more than a bit of a black/black/maple Fender guy I’ve bought myself a Fender Tele Deluxe (twin humbuckers) in the afore mentioned colour scheme for this gig. Whilst I slightly prefer the sound of my Epi SG I’m well aware that I play Fender guitars better so makes sense, plus fits my preferred colouring too.

Well as I’ve just joined a band today on guitar I have to get a backup as only have one, other than that I’ve actually got no plans for any new gear in 2023 other than strings when needed. I wonder how long I’ll manage.
