  1. Epiphone J-200 EC acoustic guitar. My first mid-priced acoustic, only ever had beginner grade before, really makes a difference having a decent instrument.
  2. Barefaced 410 would be my suggestion, get the silver cloth version and it would both look and sound great.
  3. It’s difficult to say Paul, it was about 15 years ago so my memory isn’t that great but from recall it seemed to put an emphasis on both top and bottom end - I suppose like selecting a Contour or Shape setting on an amp.
  4. I had one in a 51 Reissue, made it a lot “bigger” and more modern sounding, def more aggressive.
  5. Same - only change has been the need to make the letters bigger over the last few years to compensate for middle aged eyesight.
  6. I think this is spot on, the written word doesn`t convey tone of voice, facial expression, how a point is being stated.
  7. Really like that, it’s got a very retro sound & feel to it, a feel good song from yesteryear sort of vibe
  8. Should have brought her in a McDonalds seeing as she’s hungry 🍔
  9. Sadly if every other company in the same industry move goal posts and as a result become cheaper for their customers unless you really do have a USP which is worth sticking to it`s likely that the competition and their shareholders will laugh all the way to the bank with what was your customers money.
  10. Yes I’ve found this, the 5Khz slider seems to have much more effect on the sound than the actual Treble control. Admittedly I’m using a Precision, which isn’t chock full of highs, plus I switch off tweeters on cabs so maybe these are factors? What bass & cabs were you using?
  11. My last show of the year was meant to be at The Water Rats as well, but due to health issues of one of the band it sadly wasn’t able to go ahead.
  12. I sense it becoming a weekly thing, Karl…..
  13. After many years of buying & selling second hand I now know my preferred basses - 2013-16 Fender US Standard Precisions. As these aren’t in production anymore I can only buy used now. But up until that point it was trial & error til I hit the jackpot. Rather ironically my fave one - and the first of this series I bought - I bought new, at an incredibly good price.
  14. Yes, could well have just been a local practice and one which any higher-ups, if they found out about it would have been hopping mad. Thing is that having been employed by Post Office Ltd since 1987, when it was part of RMG it wouldn`t surprise me if that were the norm back then - wouldn`t think it was now though, or even in early 2000s even before RM were sold. Whilst I`m completely in agreement that RM with its 500 year history shouldn`t be stripped back, sadly the competition is largely doing that to them already, under-cutting pretty much everything with their (shall we say somewhat dubious) working practices as mentioned. Customers (mainly business ones) largely making choices by price rather than levels of service.
  15. Watched some of that, Horace playing a very nice worn looking sunburst/rosewood Precision
  16. I`m pretty much the same with Guns N Roses, all my mates liked them but being a punk they were too bluesy for me. Fast forward 15 or so years and got into them and kick myself for missing out.
  17. Not sure about all working practices that are being looked at but I can understand why RM want to change some - maybe this has already been changed, maybe it was a practice that only happened in the depot he worked at but it`s what used to happen, my mate who was a postman told me about it: 2 postmen, Paul & Pete. Paul is running a bit short on funds so gets Pete to pull a days sickie. Pete gets paid for this day whilst at home and not sick at all. Pauls duty is 8am - 5pm. Always finishes his round by 11.30 so always home by midday. As Pete is off Paul covers Petes duty after doing his own, is back at the depot by 3pm, is home by 3.30pm. Paul is still at home an hour and a half earlier than his scheduled duty time. Paul receives a full days overtime (at overtime rates) for covering Petes duty. Now I can understand unions looking after their members and T&Cs, fair play, no-one wants to be run over rough-shod by their employer and rightly so unions look after their members, but the above, well I can see why any company would want such T&Cs changed.
  18. Yep, what the salary could afford in 2012 it would no way meet now, even without the situation of this year with heightened inflation & fuel.
  19. I still like all the music I liked from when I was younger, but like much more now including a lot of stuff I didn’t like back when I was younger.
  20. Yep, and then 6 months on they state they’re losing 700 million a year. As Andy Furey of the CWU said, that shows incredibly poor management to go from so good to so poor so quickly. Now some of that 700M will be attributable to the strike action no doubt, but nowhere near that sum.
  21. The postman who delivers to our workplace says that a good few contracts have been lost due to the strikes, with one specifically stating unreliability as the reason.
  22. Excellent, sadly I won’t get the chance to listen but this is great, you must be really chuffed Paul
  23. Let’s all remember that the strikes affecting the transmission of mail are due to Royal Mail employees striking, and nothing to do with any employee of Post Office Ltd. Although there is currently a dispute with Post Office Ltd with some members also striking this dispute is nothing to do with the transmission of mail as they don’t deal with this.
  24. Agree, the selling of the main post offices to my recall started in the late 80s/early 90s (my first experience of this was ‘91) and has continued since then at a steady flow even after Royal Mail - who until 2012 owned The Post Office - were sold. The Post Office since 2012 owned wholly by government and no longer any part of Royal Mail.
