I think that the second hand price, around £1100/£1200 is what they really should be when new.

I used those for a good few years. Ever mindful of my OCD they matched my Ashdown amps quite nicely.

Great video: Bass Channel comparison of preamp pedals

Darkglass Microtubes B7K Orange Bass Butler GK Plex Tech21 Geddy All got my vote Which is rather annoying as I have the Sansamp and Ampeg SCRDI. I liked the Sansamp in that clip, wouldn’t rave about it, but not keen on the SCRDI at all (tho love it when I use it at home). -
I think it’s the reassuring presence. Tho strangely enough last week I used both my Jazz and my Precision at rehearsal, I preferred the Precision as there was that reassuring solidity to the sound whereas the band preferred the Jazz as it has more lows.

That is awesome

What use will they be, we won’t be able to see or keep warm…..

I wish I had an instrument (ideally a Precision) with that much history, must be great. I have my fave Precision which I’ve owned new since 2015 and have a lot of great memories/experiences with it but 40 years, I’ll bet there’s some stories there.

What are the "Jazz" basses with thicker neck?
Lozz196 replied to mario_buoninfante's topic in Bass Guitars
I`ve got a couple of the 2013-16 Fender US Standard Jazz basses, the necks are deeper on these than any other I`ve tried. Still nothing like a Precision of course as the nut width is regular Jazz, but still quite chunky. -
Dave, in your punk covers band do you do A Merry Jingle by The Greedies (Thin Lizzy & Sex Pistols)? If not would be a great one to put in.

I’ve currently got the v2 Sansamp, which isn’t as scooped in the sound and has a mid control as well. I find to get a weightier sound on the higher notes/thinner strings that backing off of the blend, treble and presence, then increasing the gain gets this. The gain seems to add in high end as well as thickness so I end up with the same eq, just a thicker version.

I’m a Precision man through & through. I do really like Jazz basses though, have learned how to get what I need from them but when it comes down to a what’s my fave only Precisions enter my mind.
-
Needs some more low-end presence imo, other than that I quite like it.

That’s a great way of describing it @miles'tone I have a (ahem) few US Fenders, all great instruments but the true feeling of joy that I get from playing my 2013-16 series maple fretboard Precisions just doesn’t happen with the others. That would be the wealth.
-
I’d obviously, as a huge fanboy say yes, you def need a Fender. But objectively unless there’s something you feel that’s lacking with your current basses the logical me says no.

Best Les Pauls many of my mates have played were also Tokais.

Playing whilst Sick (Tales/regrets when the show went on..)
Lozz196 replied to ARGH's topic in General Discussion
When it affects the performance to the point where if it were a show where people were paying to see it it would be unfair to take their money. -
Agree I’ve owned & played many different types of Precisions and to me the US ones really do have something extra.

Definitely, in my last band we gigged pretty much every weekend, sometimes twice, yet still rehearsed weekly pretty much to cover as above. OK it was “only” Punk/Oi music, but to us people paying their hard-earned deserved the best we could deliver. Too many variables at gigs to rely on those as the only playing experience, rehearsals needed.
-
I love gigging, love the being on stage bit, but recently have found that I seem to find rehearsals more overall fun. It’s probably down to not having to hang around for ages both waiting to go on, then afterwards waiting for the other bands to finish before finally packing up & going home. So I suppose it’s more that what I really like is playing music, whether with an audience or not.

Great shame, was lucky enough to catch him & Norm on the bill as support for The Stranglers a few years back. Bags of energy and supremely good musicianship.
-
And after a bit of thought and tinkering I’ve now gone back to my Dunlop Ultex 1mm Triangle picks. I just enjoy playing my bass with these more than any others, and primarily I play for enjoyment.

Looks good to me, might well make the trip over for this
